Guide – All returning villagers and characters in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is set to feature a plethora of fun animal characters, including many standard villagers (those that can move into your town) from past games and special characters (that run shops, host events, and more). Returning villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

 

Here’s a list of all the villagers we know are returning in the game so far, along with their species and personality type. Use the handy search function to find if your favorite is in for sure! This includes all villagers from Animal Crossing: New Leaf and the villagers reintroduced to the series via the Welcome amiibo series of amiibo cards, which have all been confirmed to be in New Horizons. This means that all villagers present in New Leaf apart from the Sanrio crossover characters and villagers received by scanning amiibo figures (like W. Link and Ganon) are in the game.

 

 

Returning special characters in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

 

Blathers

 

 

Blathers, who debuted in the original Animal Crossing game for the Nintendo GameCube, will return in the game to run your island’s museum.

 

Celeste

 

 

Celeste, Blathers’ sister, will also be returning as a special visitor. She’ll hand over a magic wand to allow players to put on exotic outfits, like a kimono and a superhero costume.

 

Franklin

 

Franklin the Thanksgiving turkey will be returning to the game as part of a free update.

 

Gulliver

 

Gulliver will return in New Horizons in his classic sailor attire. He can be found washed up on the beach; players will be able to wake him up by talking to him repeatedly.

 

Harvey

 

Harvey, who debuted in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, is returning to the game as both a special visitor and to run the Photopia amiibo photo mode.

 

Isabelle

 

 

Isabelle will be in the game, with her appearance tied to how much debt the player has paid back to Tom Nook, and how far the player’s island has advanced. Once the player has expanded the Resident Services tent into a full-fledged building, she’ll start working there and help the player with various island needs, like changing the island tune, changing the island flag, evaluating your island, and discussing residents.

 

Jack

 

Jack the Halloween NPC will be returning to the game as part of a free update.

 

Jingle

 

 

Jingle the reindeer will be returning to the game as part of a free update.

 

Kicks

 

Kicks the skunk will be returning as a special visitor.

 

KK Slider/DJ KK

 

 

KK Slider will be returning in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. A render of his look in the game was released in December 2019. His DJ KK persona will also be returning as part of a free update.

 

Label

 

Label (called “Labelle” in past games) will be returning in New Horizons with a new outfit (and set of white sunglasses) as a special visitor.

 

Lloid

 

 

Lloid will return in the same role he had in Animal Crossing: New Leaf — collecting bell donations for various island projects like bridges and slopes.

 

Mr. Resetti

 

Sonny Resetti will appear in the game, however, not in the same role as before. Due to the game’s new auto-save feature, there’s no way for the player to “reset” the game, making Mr. Resetti’s previous role as reset lecturer redundant. He was, consequently, let go of his position at the Reset Surveillance Center, but he will now seemingly run the new “Rescue Service.” Players who get lost or stuck on their island can call the Rescue Service using their NookPhones and Resetti will send “rangers” to come save them.

 

Pavé

 

Pavé will be returning as part of a free update.

 

Sable and Mabel

 

The two Able Sisters (along with their other sister Label) will be returning in New Horizons to run the Able Sisters clothing shop.

 

Saharah

 

Saharah will return in New Horizons as a special visitor to sell rugs.

 

Tom Nook

 

Tom Nook will appear in the game, running Nook Inc. as well as his workshop.

 

Timmy and Tommy

 

The Nooklings will also appear in the game. Timmy helps run Tom Nook’s workshop, buying and selling items with the player, while Tommy wanders outside. Eventually, they’ll run Nook’s Cranny and leave Tom Nook to run Resident Services.

 

Wisp

 

 

Wisp will return in New Horizons in his classic ghost look. He can be found at night; when startled, he will scatter small spirit wisps around.

 

Zipper T.

 

Zipper T. will be returning as part of a launch-day free update that adds the Bunny Day event.

 

Possibly returning special characters in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

 

Dr. Shrunk

 

Emotions are seen making an appearance in the game, which have been learned through Dr. Shrunk in past titles. However, it isn’t confirmed if the character will return.

 

Frillard

 

Frillard would occasionally teach players Emotions in lieu of Dr. Shrunk in Animal Crossing: City Folk. Because Emotions are returning to New Horizons, it’s possible Frillard will, as well, but he isn’t confirmed.
