In March 2021, Nintendo updated its mobile companion app for Animal Crossing: New Horizons with a new section – Nook Points. Now adding a collectible currency to the app, brand new Nook Inc. themed items were available to collect and sent to your in-game self. Here’s everything you need to know about Nook Points, including all the items you can redeem.

What is NookLink?

Modeled after Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Nook Inc. phone, Nintendo launched a mobile app version in the Nintendo Switch Online app (membership required to use the app). Selecting Animal Crossing: New Horizons from the Game-Specific Services will take you to NookLink. The app within an app offers a variety of helpful features when playing New Horizons – a keyboard that allows you to type in-game messages from your mobile device, a reactions menu selection, an item catalog, and more. One feature in the app rewards players with daily login points that can be used to exchange for items – Nook Points.

How to connect NookLink to your game

To connect NookLink to your copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you must do the following:

  • Launch Animal Crossing: New Horizons on your Nintendo Switch.
    • On the title screen, press the “- Button” to go to the Settings menu.
      • Select NookLink settings, followed by “Yes, please.”
  • Download/Launch the Nintendo Switch Online app on your mobile device (free to download via the App Store and Google Play).
    • Select Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the Game-Specific Services tab.

Note: If you have multiple island residents on your copy of New Horizons and each resident has an active Nintendo Switch Online membership, you can switch player accounts within the app to collect Nook Points. Go to Settings within NookLink and select “Change players.”

What are Nook Points?

Nook Points are the currency found within the Nintendo Switch Online app for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. To earn them, you must check into NookLink’s Nook Point section daily. There, you’ll be prompted to collect your points from Katrina. Along with earning 10 points for the day, Katrina will also give you some Words of Wisdom. If you’re lucky, you might get a 2x or 3x boost for the day, thus earning you 20 or 30 Nook Points for the day.

Within the Nook Point section, you’ll also find two other tabs – Redeem for Items and Redemption History. This is where you can exchange points for NookLink exclusive items and see previous transactions. Once redeemed, the item(s) you selected will be mailed to you in New Horizons. Check your mailbox the next time you visit your island!

Full list of Nook Point items

When Nook Points launched, only six different items were available to redeem. After the launch of New Horizons’ Version 2.0, new items were added to the app’s offerings. As of Version 2.0, you’ll find the following items within the app.
