The long-awaited 3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is finally here! As countless fans return to their islands to see all there is to do with this new version, undoubtedly one of the most exciting inclusions is the new crossover content. Not only the four new villagers either, but also the whopping 28 new furniture and clothing items representing The Legend of Zelda. That being said, these items aren’t actually available by default; rather they have to be unlocked first in order to actually purchase them. Worry not though, as the process for doing so couldn’t be more straightforward!

How to unlock the new Zelda items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The only requirement to unlock all of the Zelda series items is to simply scan any Legend of Zelda series amiibo. It doesn’t matter what specific amiibo is used, and it only needs to be done once to permanently unlock all of the additions, so even those who might not own any amiibo can get by with help from a friend.

First things first, go ahead and head over to the Resident Services building to access the Nook Stop, which is where the amiibo scanning feature can be found. Alternatively, the amiibo Call Center found at The Roost in the museum will also work for this! If you’re looking to unlock both the Zelda and Splatoon items at the same time you’ll need to head there for the second one, as you won’t be able to use the Nook Stop to scan amiibo once a villager is already at the campsite.

From there, select the “Invite amiibo Camper” option from the menu and scan the Zelda amiibo of your choosing. For those looking to invite the new villagers Tulin and Mineru to their campsite (and possibly their island as permanent residents!) this is also the place to do it. They each have a specific list of amiibo which corresponds to them, so check out our guide for more information about which to use!

Once the amiibo has been scanned, the full catalog of items will now be unlocked! To check them out, simply open the Nook Shopping app at the Nook Stop, select Special Goods, and finally navigate to the Promotion tab. All 28 items will be available for purchase with no further steps necessary.
