After what felt like forever, a new wave of content for Animal Crossing: New Horizons has finally arrived with the 3.0 update. Possibly the most anticipated new addition to the game is the return of crossover content with other games, such as the wide array of decorations centered around the Splatoon series. There’s 28 items in total, ranging from furniture to clothing and more, but getting these items will take a little bit more work than some other items. Fortunately it’s a pretty quick process to unlock, and the details for how to do so can be found below!

How to unlock the new Splatoon items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

In order to gain access to the new Splatoon items, all that needs to be done is to scan any Splatoon series amiibo in the game. Any amiibo will do as long as it is from a Splatoon game, and once the items are unlocked they’re available for good. Not too much trouble all things considered!

To start, make your way to the Resident Services building in order to visit the Nook Stop, which is the main place to scan amiibo. There’s also an amiibo Call Center found in The Roost in the museum, which is the preferable option if there’s already a villager at the campsite or if you’re trying to unlock the Legend of Zelda items as well.

At the Nook Stop, go ahead and select the “Invite amiibo Camper” option and scan in whichever Splatoon amiibo you happen to want to use. If you’re hoping to add Cece or Viché to your island, scanning an amiibo that corresponds to them will unlock the items in the process, so you can kill two birds with one stone that way. If you’re not sure which amiibo can be used to invite them, check out our guide for the details!

As soon as an amiibo has been scanned, that’s all that needs to be done! The full catalog of Splatoon items are now available for purchase on the Nook Shopping app at the Nook Stop. They’re found under the Promotion tab of the Special Goods section along with the other crossover items.
