A post on the Borderlands 4 subreddit reveals shots of a case, a Game-Key Card, a DLC code, and even a screenshot of a Nintendo Switch 2 recognizing the cartridge. It apparently came from online marketplace Vinted.
“The Key Card is recognized as legit but it doesn’t have any data to download,” Reddit user Veloxplayer098 said.
“Unfortunately, the code was redeemed by someone else, so we can’t test [to see] if redeeming it would do something different.”
When is Borderlands 4 releasing?
In February, Take-Two spokesperson Alan Lewis announced that the Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 was on indefinite hold, calling it a “difficult decision.” There have been no updates on the project since.
Borderlands 4 was announced for Switch 2 during the system’s reveal in the April 2025 Nintendo Direct. Gearbox president Randy Pitchford appeared in the broadcast as part of Nintendo’s Creator’s Voice interviews, calling it “the most ambitious Borderlands game we ever made.”
A follow-up trailer for the game confirmed that the Switch 2 port was originally supposed to release on October 3rd, 2025.
