Hey, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players! Hope you’re enjoying your summer. September is almost here, and that means a ton of August bugs, fish, and sea creatures are going to become unavailable for you to catch next month! Of course, the critters that’ll be going away are different depending on which hemisphere you’re playing in, so be sure to check the appropriate section below to see what’s disappearing! Northern Hemisphere, it’s time to say bye-bye to tons of cicadas and beetles!
Northern Hemisphere
The following bugs, fish, and sea creatures won’t be available to catch after August’s over in the Northern Hemisphere:
- Common bluebottle (Found flying around from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
- Great purple emperor (Found flying around from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
- Brown cicada (Found on trees from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
- Robust cicada (Found on trees from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
- Giant cicada (Found on trees from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
- Evening cicada (Found on trees from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m., and then from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
- Cicada shell (Found on trees all day)
- Jewel beetle (Found on tree stumps all day)
- Blue weevil beetle (Found on palm trees from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
- Scarab beetle (Found on trees from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.)
- Drone beetle (Found on trees all day)
- Saw stag (Found on trees all day)
- Miyama stag (Found on trees all day)
- Giant stag (Found on palm trees all day)
- Cyclommatus stag (Found on palm trees all day)
- Golden stag (Found on palm trees from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.)

- Yellow butterfly (Found flying around from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
- Monarch butterfly (Found flying around from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
- Cricket (Found on the ground from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.)
- Bell cricket (Found on the ground from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.)
- Red dragonfly (Found flying around from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
- Violin beetle (Found on tree stumps all day)
- Pill bug (Found by hitting rocks from 11 p.m. to 4 p.m.)
- Centipede (Found by hitting rocks from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.)
- Pike (Found in rivers all day)
- Cherry salmon (Found in clifftop rivers from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m.)
- Char (Found in clifftop rivers from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m.)

- Sweet shrimp (Found by ocean diving from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m.)
- Sea pig (Found by ocean diving from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m.)
