Every few months, the seasons change into spring, summer, fall, or winter. Inspired by these changes Niantic added Seasons to Pokémon GO back in December 2020. Each Season in the mobile game is three months-long and features special events, certain Pokémon appearing more often in the wild (in certain areas and hemispheres), refreshed Egg pool, and more. Instead of being named after the spring, summer, fall, or winter seasons, each Season in Pokémon GO is named after an idea/theme.
For June 2022, a new Season has begun and it’s called the Season of GO.
What is the Season of GO?
The Season of GO is Pokémon GO’s 7th in-game Season and started on Wednesday, June 1st, 2022. During this Season, Niantic will be celebrating the mobile game and possibly introducing Ultra Beasts, the extradimensional Pokémon from the Alola region (as teased in the Season’s artwork). Big changes like this tend to happen alongside Pokémon GO Fest, a yearly event in Pokémon GO.
When is the Season of GO?
The Season of GO takes place over three months – starting on Wednesday, June 1st, 2022 at 10 a.m. and ending on Thursday, September 1st, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.
What is the focus for the Season of GO?
Unlike the Season of Alola, the Season of GO isn’t focused on a specific region in the Pokémon universe or has plans to task Trainers with a Season-long Special Research Story (at the time of this posting). Instead, the focus is on celebrating Pokémon GO itself! After all, the 6th anniversary of the mobile game will be happening on July 6th, 2022, and plenty of big events will be happening all summer long! Notably, Pokémon GO Fest 2022 will be in the spotlight, plus its three, spin-off in-person events in the US, Germany, and Japan. Finally, in August, a follow-up event to GO Fest 2022 will be taking place. Here’s a list of Pokémon GO Fest 2022 related events and their dates:
- Saturday, June 4th, and Sunday, June 5th, 2022: Pokémon GO Fest 2022 (worldwide event)
- Friday, July 1st – Sunday, July 3rd, 2022: Pokémon GO Fest: Berlin (in-person event at Britzer Garten, Berlin, Germany)
- Friday, July 22nd – Sunday, July 24th, 2022: Pokémon GO Fest: Seattle (in-person event at Seattle Center Park and downtown Seattle, Washington, United States)
- Friday, August 5th – Sunday, August 7th, 2022: Pokémon GO Fest: Sapporo (in-person event at Nakajima Park and Sapporo, Japan)
- Saturday, August 27th, 2022: Pokémon GO Fest 2022 Finale Event (worldwide, included with Pokémon GO Fest 2022 ticket for free and available to purchase separately)
Note: Tickets for the in-person events are limited and must be bought through Niantic’s event ticketing site or via the Pokémon GO app. Access to the event may be limited to one day and/or a certain time frame. Please see the dedicated Pokémon GO Fest 2022 sites for these events (as linked above).
What are the bonuses for the Season of GO?
