The Bug-type Pokémon-themed event, Bug Out, is back this year! Meg Heracross debuts, but a day after the Bug Out event starts. No worries, as Mega Heracross will still be available in Mega Raids after the event ends (and it’s a great time to catch Heracross, a regional exclusive). Other than that, shiny rates will be boosted for Combee and Burmy (all cloak types). (For more details about the Season of World of Wonder, you can check out our overall Season of World of Wonder guide hub.)

Now, check out what’s happening during the Bug Out event with our guide below:

Pokémon GO’s Season of World of Wonder – Bug Out

Begins: Friday, April 12th, 2024 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Wednesday, April 17th, 2024 at 8 p.m. your local time.

Pokémon debuts and featured – Mega Heracross, Shiny Combee, and Shiny Burmy

There’s one new Pokémon debut happening during the Bug Out event. Yet, Mega Heracross won’t be available at the start of the event:

  • Mega Heracross: Debuting on Saturday, April 13th, 2024 at 10 a.m. your local time, Mega Heracross will be available to challenge in Mega Raids (until Thursday, April 25th, 2024 at 10 a.m. your local time). Heracross is a regional exclusive, so here’s your chance to catch one, and a shiny one if you’re lucky! (Shiny rates will be increased during the Mega Heracross Raid Day event happening on Saturday, April 13th, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. your local time).
    • Note: You’ll also need to compete in multiple Mega Heracross Mega Raids in order to get enough Heracross Mega Energy to Mega Evolve your own Heracross.

Also, the following Pokémon are being featured during the Bug Out event:

  • Shiny Combee: If you’re looking for a Shiny Combee, you’ll want to seek out Combees in the wild. If you’re lucky (and thanks to the shiny rate boost for them), you might catch a shiny one!
    • Note: Keep in mind that if you catch a male Shiny Combee, you can’t evolve him. (Yet, you have one of the greatest shiny Pokémon in the entire Pokémon franchise, in my opinion).
  • Shiny Burmy (Plant Cloak, Sandy Cloak, and Trash Cloak): All three Burmy variations will be available as catch reward encounters in select Field Research tasks. If you’re lucky (and thanks to the shiny rate boost for them), you might catch a shiny one!

Event Bonuses

  • 2× XP for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
  • Increased Candy for Nice Throws or better.
  • Increased Candy XL for Nice Throws or better for Trainers level 31 and up.
  • Increased chance to encounter Shiny Combee and Shiny Burmy.
  • Once two or more Trainers successfully complete an in-person raid, more Pokémon will appear around the Gym that hosted the raid for 15 minutes.
    • Will appear as “Bonus unlocked!: More Bug-type Pokémon are appearing in the wild” in the events tab.

Plus, the following bonuses will be available during the Mega Heracross Raid Day event happening on Saturday, April 13th, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. your local time (unless otherwise stated):

  • The Remote Raid Pass limit will be increased to 20 from Friday, April 12th, at 5 p.m. to Saturday, April 13th, 2024, to 8 p.m. PDT.
  • You can receive up to five additional daily Raid Passes from spinning Photo Discs at Gyms during the event.
