For Pokémon GO’s next event, the XXS to XXL size mechanic is being featured. The appearance of Pokémon in these sizes will be boosted and PokéStop Showcases will be active (but will probably focus on submitting the biggest event-themed Pokémon once again). For shiny hunters, you have three new Shiny Pokémon to catch (including two regional exclusives). (For more details about the Season of World of Wonder, you can check out our overall Season of World of Wonder guide hub.)

Now, check out what’s happening during the Sizeable Surprises event with our guide below:

Pokémon GO’s Season of World of Wonder – Sizeable Surprises

Begins: Thursday, April 4th, 2024 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 at 8 p.m. your local time.

Pokémon debuts – Shiny Kartana, Shiny Celesteela, and Shiny Wimpod

There are three shiny debuts for this event, but keep in mind that two of the Pokémon are regional exclusives!

  • Shiny Kartana: If you’re lucky, you can encounter Shiny Kartana after defeating Kartana in a Five-Star Raid (happening in the Northern Hemisphere).
  • Shiny Celesteela: If you’re lucky, you can encounter Shiny Celesteela after defeating Celesteela in a Five-Star Raid (happening in the Southern Hemisphere).
  • Shiny Wimpod: Wimpod will be a bit easier to find (compared to Kartana and Celesteela). If you’re lucky, you can encounter a Shiny Wimpod when you find a Wimpod in the wild, via a Field Research task catch reward, or as an encounter for the event’s Collection Challenge(s).

Event Bonuses

  • 2× XP for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
    • This bonus will not stack with the Catch XP bonus available during the April 2024 Community Day Classic event.
  • Increased chance to encounter XXS and XXL Pokémon in the wild.
  • Increased chance to encounter Shiny Wailmer!

The Sizeable Surprises event overlaps with the 2024 Pokémon Europe International Championships, so the following bonus will also be active daily until Sunday, April 7th, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. your local time:

  • The maximum number of sets you can play per day will be increased from five to 10—for a total of 50 battles—from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. your local time.

Also, the April 2024 Community Day Classic event overlaps with the Sizeable Surprises event, so the following bonuses will be active on Sunday, April 7th, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. your local time:

  • Incense activated during the event will last for three hours (Daily Adventure Incense excluded)
  • Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours
