The spring-themed event in Pokémon GO returns for 2024! This year the flower crown costume is back (but for two new Costumed Pokémon), Shiny Flabébé debuts, and Zarude returns (but locked behind a paid ticket). Pokémon GO’s Season of World of Wonders – Verdant Wonders

Begins: Thursday, March 21st, 2024 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Monday, March 25th, 2024 at 8 p.m. your local time.

 

Pokémon debuts – Costumed Cottonee, Costumed Whimsicott, and Shiny Flabébé

 

 

  • Cottonee wearing a flower crown (Costumed Cottonee): To get Cottonee wearing a flower crown, you can encounter them via in the wild, Incense encounters, Field Research task rewards, and Collection Challenge rewards.
      • Going forward, this Pokémon will be referred to as “Costumed” rather than the exact outfit they are wearing.
    • Whimsicott wearing a flower crown (Costumed Whimsicott): To get this Whimsicott, you’ll need to catch a Cottonee wearing a flower crown and evolve them using 50 Cottonee Candies and a Sun Stone.
      • Going forward, this Pokémon will be referred to as “Costumed” rather than the exact outfit they are wearing.
  • Shiny Flabébé: At the start of the event, shiny versions of all five color/flower variants of Flabébé will be available. Keep in mind that some Flabébé are limited to certain regions:
    • Flabébé (Red Flower)*: Only appears in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
    • Flabébé (Blue Flower)*: Only appearing in the Asia-Pacific region.
    • Flabébé (Yellow Flower)*: Only appearing in the Americas.
    • Flabébé (White Flower)*: Available worldwide.
    • Flabébé (Orange Flower)*: Available worldwide.

 

Event Bonuses

  • Event-themed wild Pokémon.
  • Featured Pokémon lured by Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense).
  • Event-themed Field Research.
  • Paid Special Research Story featuring Zarude.

 

The Raid Day: Primal Groudon event overlaps with the Verdant Wonders event, so the following bonuses will be active on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. your local time (unless otherwise noted):

  • Primal Groudon will appear more frequently in raids!
  • Receive up to five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs.
  • Increased chance to encounter Shiny Groudon.
  • The Remote Raid limit will be increased to 20 from Friday, March 22nd, 2024, at 5 p.m. to Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, at 8 p.m. PDT.

 

And the following bonuses will be available if the Primal Groudon Raid Day Ticket was purchased:

  • Eight additional Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs
  • Increased chance to get Rare Candy XL from Raid Battles
  • 50% more XP from Raid Battles
  • 2× Stardust from Raid Battles

Wild Encounters

  • The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Bulbasaur*, Oddish*, Tangela*, Hoppip*, Poochyena*, Nuzleaf, Shroomish*, Costumed Cottonee*, Flabébé (Red Flower)* (See Notes), Flabébé (Blue Flower)* (See Notes),  Flabébé (Yellow Flower)* (See Notes), and Cutiefly*.
    • If you’re lucky, you might encounter the following Pokémon: Pansage*, Pansear*, Panpour*, Zorua*, Flabébé (White Flower)*, Flabébé (Orange Flower)*.

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:

  • One-Star Raids: Galarian Slowpoke*, Koffing*, Ralts*, Espurr*, and Croagunk*.
  • Three-Star Raids: Wigglytuff, Drapion, Gothorita, and Drampa*.
  • Five-Star Raids: Tapu Lele* (See Additional Notes).
  • Mega Raids: Mega Venusaur* (See Additional Notes).

 

Shadow Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Shadow Raids:

  • One-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Alolan Sandshrew, Shadow Murkrow*, Shadow Pineco*, and Shadow Croagunk.
  • Three-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Scyther*, Shadow Skarmory, and Shadow Golett.
  • Five-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Raikou* (See Additional Notes).

  • Standard Raids:

Featured Attack for Tapu Lele

Tapu Lele will know the attack Nature’s Madness (Charged Attack) when caught from Five-Star Raids between Thursday, March 21st, 2024, at 10 a.m. to Thursday, April 4th, 2024, at 10 a.m. your local time.

Nature’s Madness’ (Charged Attack) stats are as follows:

  • Trainer Battles:  80 power +  decrease your opponent’s Defense stat
  • Gyms and Raids: 90 power

 

Field Research Tasks

There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Vulpix*, Poliwag*, Marill*, Slugma*, Costumed Cottonee*, Pansage*, Pansear*, and Panpour*. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

  • Task: Catch 5 Pokémon
    • Reward: Poliwag* OR Slugma* OR Costumed Cottonee* Encounter
  • Task: Catch 15 Pokémon
    • Reward: Pansage* OR Pansear* OR Panpour* Encounter
  • Task: Explore 1 km
    • Reward: Vulpix* OR Marill* OR Costumed Cottonee* Encounter
  • Task: Spin 5 PokéStops or Gyms
    • Reward: 5 Poké Balls OR 2 Great Balls OR 100 Stardust

PokéStop Showcase

During the event, PokéStop Showcases will be active. The theme of these contests is to submit the biggest event-themed Pokémon.

  • Wednesday, March 20th, 2024 at 10 a.m. to Friday, March 22nd, 2024 at 8 p.m. your local time: Flabébé (any color variant)
  • Saturday, March 23rd, 2024 at 10 a.m. to Sunday, March 24th, 2024 at 8 p.m. your local time: All Grass-type Pokémon

 

Collection Challenge – Verdant Wonders Collection Challenge

A special, event-exclusive Collection Challenge will be available. According to Niantic, this Collection Challenge will reward Trainers with Stardust, XP, Costumed Cottonee* Encounter, and an addition to the Elite Collector medal. A complete list of what Pokémon must be caught/traded/evolved and the associated rewards will be added here once the event is live.

 

  • Catch: Bulbasaur, Oddish, Hoppip, Shroomish, and Cottonee (regular pictured, unclear if Costumed Cottonee would count).
  • Evolve: Bulbasaur into Ivysaur, Oddish into Gloom, Hoppip into Skiploom, Shroomish into Breloom, and Cottonee into Whimsicott.
  • Completion Rewards: 5,000 XP, 2,500 Stardust, and Costumed Cottonee* Encounter.

Paid Ticket – Special Research: Rogue of the Jungle

 

 

During the Verdant Wonders event, Trainers can purchase a ticket to access Special Research Story featuring Zarude. For US$7.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll get the Rogue of the Jungle Special Research Story which rewards Trainers with the following: Zarude Encounter, Galarian Zigzagoon* Encounter, Seedot* Encounter, Cacnea* Encounter, Absol* Encounter, Scraggy* Encounter, 5 Rare Candies, 10 Zardue Candies, 3 Zarude Candies XL, 2 Premium Battle Passes, 1 Incense, 10 Ultra Balls, 6 Silver Pinap Berries, and more. The ticket can also be purchased for US$7.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency) on the Pokémon GO Web Store and Trainers that purchase the ticket there will get a bonus 100 PokéCoins.

Sales for this Special Research will end on Monday, March 25th, 2024 at 8 p.m. your local time. According to Niantic, “[t]ickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service).” Tickets can also be gifted to Trainers you’re friends with provided that you have a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with them. This can be done via the in-game shop and by selecting the “Gift” button instead of the “Buy” button. Tickets purchased for friends are nonrefundable as well.
