Pokémon Worlds return to an in-person event this year! Taking place in London from August 18th – 21st, Niantic is once again hosting an in-game Pokémon GO event to celebrate the occasion. Plus, this will be the first Pokémon Worlds that features competitive Pokémon GO battling. Yes, there will be some bonuses for attendees who happen to be at the event itself, but the rest of the Pokémon GO community can participate in the World Championships Celebration 2022 event!

Since the best of the best are battling it out in London, Trainers can expect to see a number of Galar region Pokémon and a special Costumed Pikachu. Get all the details for this event with our guide below:

Pokémon GO’s Season of GO – A World Championships Celebration in Pokémon GO!

Begins: Thursday, August 18th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Tuesday, August 23rd, 2022 at 8 p.m. your local time.

Pokémon debuts – Costumed Pikachu* (World Championships 2022 Pikachu)!

With every Pokémon Worlds, there tends to be branding and merchandise themed after the location it’s taking place at. Pokémon Worlds 2017 in Anaheim, CA featured Alolan Exeggutors and a Pikachu ready to surf, channeling those iconic Southern California vibes. For London, Pikachu is sporting a top hat and coat that is channeling the Union Jack (but minus the white and add some Poké Ball imagery instead). Not only is this Pikachu available as a plushie at the event, but it’ll be available in Pokémon GO (via Raids, Field Research, and Timed Research) as the event’s Costumed Pikachu*!

Plus, for Trainers who missed out on Zacian and Zamazenta, they’re returning in Five-Star Raids.

Notes:

  • Niantic refers to this Pikachu as “World Championships 2022 Pikachu”*, but for this guide, it’ll be listed as Costumed Pikachu*.
  • Pokémon marked with an * means that “If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!”

Event Bonuses

  • Challengers with Pokémon teams inspired by the ones used by Trainers who won the Pokémon GO Regional Championships will appear at PokéStops.
  • 3× Stardust from GO Battle League win rewards.
  • The maximum number of GO Battle League sets you can play per day will be increased from five to 10, for a total of 50 battles per day.

If you’re attending Pokémon Worlds in-person, the following perks will be available throughout the weekend (in addition to the in-game Avatar Item shown at the end of the guide):
