Pokémon GO’s Season of Timeless Travels’ Along the Routes event guide

Niantic is promoting the Routes in yet another event. The change up this time is that a new Pokémon GO NPC will be incorporated along with a new Gift Exchange system tied to the features. Trainers, it’s time to meet Researcher Mateo. On the Pokémon side of things, the Hisuian Pokémon additions continue with the activation of Shiny Hisuian Sneasel. Pokémon GO’s Season of Timeless Travels – Along the Routes

Begins: Tuesday, December 5th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Friday, December 8th, 2023 at 8 p.m. your local time.

 

Pokémon GO debuts – Researcher Mateo and Shiny Hisuian Sneasel

 

 

Joining Professor Willow, Rhi (of the GO Ultra Recon Squad), Team Mystic, Valor, and Instinct leaders (plus the goofballs at Team GO Rocket HQ), a new NPC enters the world of Pokémon GO. Mateo is described as a researcher who enjoys collecting (and exchanging) Gifts and Postcards. Niantic is incorporating Mateo into the Routes feature, where he may appear at the end of a Route that Trainers are exploring. If so, Mateo will exchange Gifts with you (this can only be once a day). For more details about this feature, you can read up on it via the official Pokémon GO blog.

As for the Pokémon side of things, the Shiny version of Hisuian Sneasel will be added to the game. During the event, you can get Hisuian Sneasel via hatching from 7 km Eggs obtained during the event, as catch reward encounters in Field Research tasks, and as catch reward encounters in Timed Research. It is unclear if they will also be available as a catch reward encounter in the event’s Special Research Story.

 

Event Bonuses

• 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator during the event period.
• 3× XP for spinning PokéStops.
• 5× XP for spinning a PokéStop for the first time.
• 2× Stardust from opening Gifts.

 

Event Boxes

If any special event boxes or bundles are released during the event, they’ll be listed here once the event is live.

 

Wild Encounters

• The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Slugma*, Hitmontop*, Spoink*, Feebas*, Lillipup*, Woobat*, Emolga, Wooloo, and Pawmi.

Eggs

The following Pokémon will be hatching from Eggs that are obtained during the event:

• 7 km Eggs
  • 1-Egg Rarity: Hisuian Growlithe*, Togepi*, Sneasel*, Hisuian Sneasel*, Bonsly*, and Espurr*.

• The official Pokémon GO blog post incorrectly stated that the Season of Timeless Travels’ 7 km Egg Pool would also be in 7 km Eggs obtained during this event.

 

Raids

Standard and Shadow Raids will be active during the event. While no themed Raids were announced, the current Raid lineup is listed below:

 

Standard Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:

• One-Star Raids: Poliwhirl, Horsea*, Houndour*, Shinx*, and Pawmi.
• Three-Star Raids: Primeape, Rhydon, Magcargo, and Bombirdier*.
• Five-Star Raids: Reshiram* (See Additional Notes).
• Mega Raids: Mega Scizor* (See Additional Notes).

 

Shadow Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Shadow Raids:

• One-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Machop*, Shadow Cubone, Shadow Teddiursa*, and Shadow Trapinch.
• Three-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Porygon, Shadow Houndour, and Shadow Sableye*.
• Five-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Zapdos* (See Additional Notes + won’t appear during this event due to dates).

• Standard Raids:
  • Reshiram* will be available after the event (in Five-Star Raids), until Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
  • Mega Scizor* will be available after the event (in Mega Raids), until Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
• Shadow Raids:
  • One- and Three-Star Shadow Raids will be available daily.
  • Five-Star Shadow Raids will be available on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), unless otherwise stated by Niantic.

 

Timed Research – Along the Routes

A Timed Research quest focusing on exploring and sending Gifts to fellow Trainers will be active during the event. Some catch reward encounters in this Timed Research include the following Pokémon: Hisuian Sneasel*, Feebas*, Wooloo, and Pawmi.

• Task: Explore 1 km
  • Reward: Wooloo Encounter
• Task: Send a Gift to a Friend
  • Reward: 5 Pinap Berries
• Task: Explore 2 km
  • Reward: Pawmi Encounter
• Task: Explore 5 km
  • Reward: Feebas* Encounter
• Task: Send 3 Gifts to Friends
  • Reward: 1 Incense
• Task: Explore 7 km
  • Reward: Hisuian Sneasel* Encounter
• Completion Rewards: Hisuian Sneasel* Encounter, 1,500 XP, and 1,5000 Stardust.

 

Field Research Tasks

There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Eevee*, Hisuian Sneasel*, and Wooloo. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

• Task: Earn a Candy walking with your Buddy
  • Reward: 5 Great Balls

• Task: Trade a Pokémon
  • Reward: Hisuian Sneasel* Encounter

Special Research – A Route to New Friendships

A Special Research Story will be available. In it, Trainers will get to meet Mateo (a new character joining the world of Pokémon GO) and participate in the Gift Exchange feature that is tied to Routes.

PokéStop Showcase

During the event, PokéStop Showcases will be active. The theme of these contests is to submit the biggest Sneasel and/or Hisuian Sneasel.
