We’re less than a week away from Halloween, so it’s time to unleash this year’s Halloween-themed Costumed Pokémon in Pokémon GO! While there are only two new additions this year (Pikachu and Gengar), a few trick-or-treating Pokémon from the Halloween 2021 and 2022 events will return. There’s also another shiny debut in the form of Shiny Zorua (so don’t get completely tricked when you see a shiny version of your Buddy Pokémon in the wild). As this is the Part II of this year’s Halloween event, remember that Timed Research from the Halloween 2023 Part I event is still active. Plus, Team GO Rocket will be causing some mischief with a Team GO Rocket Takeover event. (For more details about the Season of Adventures Abound, you can check out our overall Season of Adventures Abound guide hub.)
Now, check out what’s happening during the Pokémon GO Halloween 2023 Part II event with our guide below:
Pokémon GO’s Season of Adventures Abound – Pokémon GO Halloween 2023 Part II
Begins: Thursday, October 26th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
Ends: Tuesday, October 31st, 2023 at 8 p.m. your local time.
Pokémon debuts – Costumed Pikachu, Costumed Gengar, and Shiny Zorua + previous Costumed Pokémon
For the Halloween Part II event, Costumed Pokémon are here! For 2023, this includes two new Costumed Pokémon designs (Pikachu and Gengar), but we’ll also see the return of some Costumed Pokémon from previous Halloween events. On top of that, Zorua, which debuted last Halloween season, will now be available as shiny in-game, if you’re lucky.
- Pikachu wearing a Tricks & Treat costume (Costumed Pikachu): This Costumed Pikachu can be found in wild encounters and in a few reward catch encounters via the Halloween Part II Timed Research.
- Gengar wearing a Tricks & Treat costume (Costumed Gengar): This 2023 Costumed Gengar will be a bit trickier to find. If you’re lucky, you may encounter them in the wild. Luckily there will be a few reward catch encounters via the Halloween Part II Timed Research and you can always try your luck in Three-Star Raid Battles.
- This is a brand new Costumed Gengar look. Previous Costumed Gengars (sporting the Mega Banette costume and Spooky Festival costume) will not be available during the 2023 event.
- Shiny Zorua: If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny Zorua. During the event, you can find Zorua masquerading as your Buddy Pokémon in the wild and as a reward catch encounter in the Halloween Part II Timed Research.
- Previous Halloween Costumed Pokémon:
- Vulpix wearing a Spooky Festival costume can be found in the wild. This costume version was previously available during the Halloween 2022 event.
- Piplip wearing a Halloween Mischief costume can be found in the wild. This costume version was previously available during the Halloween 2021 and 2022 events.
- Pumpkaboo wearing a Spooky Festival costume can be found in the wild. This costume version was previously available during the Halloween 2022 event.
Note: Going forward, these Pokémon will be referred to as “Costumed” rather than the exact outfit they are wearing.
Event Bonuses
- Additional Candy for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws.
- Additional Candy XL for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws.
- Costumed Pokémon have a chance to give additional Candy when caught.
- On Tuesday, October 31st, 2023, costumed Pokémon will have a chance to give Rare Candy or Rare Candy XL when caught.
- PokéStops and Gyms will be decorated for the holiday. (Same as last year’s orange overlay and fall motifs.)
- Lavender Town music will play nightly.
