Once again, Team GO Rocket is ready to crash a celebration. During the Pokémon GO Halloween 2023 Part II event, Team GO Rocket will be also hosting a takeover event. So while Trainers are looking for Costumed Pokémon, Shiny Zorua, and more, they’ll also encounter a variety of new Shadow Pokémon. For more information about the Pokémon GO Halloween 2023 Part II event, you can check out its very own event guide.

Now, check out what’s happening during the Team GO Rocket Takeover with our guide below:

Pokémon GO’s Season of Adventures Abound – Team GO Rocket Takeover

Begins: Thursday, October 26th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Tuesday, October 31st, 2023 at 8 p.m. your local time.

Pokémon debuts – Shadow Regigias, Shiny Shadow Lugia, and more Shadow Pokémon

For this Team GO Rocket Takeover, Shadow Lugia will kick Shadow Moltres out of weekend Five-Star Shadow Raids, and Giovanni will be battling with Shadow Regigias. Plus, Team GO Rocket Leaders and Grunts will be battling with a variety of new Shadow Pokémon.

  • Shadow Regigias: To get Shadow Regigias, you’re gonna have to activate a Super Rocket Radar to track down the Team GO Rocket Boss, Giovanni. Defeat him in battle during the event and you’ll get a reward catch encounter with Shadow Regigias.
  • Shadow Lugia: Shadow Lugia isn’t new, but its shiny version is. If you’re lucky, you can encounter one after defeating Shadow Lugia in a Five-Star Shadow Raid only on Saturday, October 28th and/or Sunday, October 29th.
  • New Shadow Pokémon: The following Pokémon will be added to the battling pool for Team GO Rocket Grunts and Leaders: Shadow Gastly, Shadow Rhyhorn, Shadow Barboach, Shadow Cranidos, Shadow Shieldon, Shadow Drilbur, and Shadow Litwick. You may also see them appear in One-Star Shadow Raids.
    • On the flip side, it also means these Pokémon’s Purified versions are also available.

Event Bonuses

  • Team GO Rocket will appear more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons.
  • You can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration.

  • Costumed Pokémon have a chance to give additional Candy when caught.
  • On Tuesday, October 31st, 2023, costumed Pokémon will have a chance to give Rare Candy or Rare Candy XL when caught.
  • PokéStops and Gyms will be decorated for the holiday. (Same as last year’s orange overlay and fall motifs.)
  • Lavender Town music will play nightly.
