If you’ve been playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered on Switch 2, you may have noticed some issues with its image quality at times. While the new port is a massive upgrade over the Switch 1 original, it can sometimes be blurry in handheld mode and suffer from over-sharpening when it comes to graphical filters. As part of yesterday’s patch notes for version 5.01, developer CD Projekt Red stated it will be working on updates to improve “image clarity and sharpness,” specifically.
Alongside a host of micro updates that most players may not have noticed, CDPR states at the bottom of its patch log:
In addition to this, we are also working on an update for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, introducing closer parity between all versions of the game, including the same global changes as on other platforms. It will also improve on some Switch 2-specific aspects, such as image clarity and sharpness. Expect more information regarding this in the following days.
That’s not very specific, but it shows CDPR is aware of issues fans have been raising. Considering how thorough the rest of the patch notes are, I imagine CDPR will figure this out shortly and have the Switch 2 version looking better than ever. It’s still quite stunning to see a game like this running in handheld, especially with the dramatic leap in quality over the Switch 1 port.
