Pokémon GO’s Season of Hidden Gems is nearing its end. This weekend, New York City’s Pokémon GO Fest 2023 event will be happening, and just like this year’s events in Osaka and London, a worldwide event will also overlap. Similar to the Glittering Garden event, the Noxious Swamp event will focus on Poison- and Dark-type Pokémon. Notably, the big debut during this event is Shiny Skrelp. And for Trainers that enjoy Shadow Raids, there’s finally a shuffle in the lineup for One- and Three-Star Shadow Raids.

Pokémon GO’s Season of Hidden Gems – Noxious Swamp

Begins: Saturday, August 19th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023 at 8 p.m. your local time.

 

Pokémon debuts – Shiny Skrelp

 

 

Shiny Skrelp debuts during the paid Pokémon GO Fest 2023 experience in New York City and around the world for all Trainers during the Noxious Swamp event. To find Skrelp* (and hopefully discover a shiny one), you’ll be able to find ’em via wild encounters and select Field Research task reward catch encounters.

Event Bonuses

  • 2× Catch Candy
  • One additional free Raid Pass per day from spinning Gym Photo Discs
  • Team GO Rocket balloons appear more frequently

Wild Encounters

  • The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Zubat*, Venonat*, Tentacool*, Dratini*, Surskit*, Gulpin*, Skorupi*, Axew*, Skrelp*, Tyrunt*, and Noibat*.

Raids

Standard and Shadow Raids will be active during the event.

 

Standard Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:

  • One-Star Raids: Grimer*, Alolan Grimer*, Hisuian Qwilfish, and Hisuian Sneasel.
  • Three-Star Raids: Galarian Weezing*, Druddigon*, and Turtonator*.
  • Five-Star Raids: Xerneas* and Yveltal* (See Additional Notes).
  • Mega Raids: Mega Salamence* (See Additional Notes).

 

Shadow Raids

The following Shadow Pokémon will be appearing in Shadow Raids:

  • One-Star Shadow Raids: Zubat, Houndour, and Pidove.
  • Three-Star Shadow Raids: Nidoran ♀*, Onix, and Sneasel*.
  • Five-Star Shadow Raids: None.

    • Mega Salamence* will be available…
      • … prior to the event (in Mega Raids), starting on Wednesday, August 16th,2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
      • …. after the event (in Mega Raids), until Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
      • … and will return after the global Pokémon GO Fest 2023 event from Sunday, August 27th, 2023 at 6 p.m. to Friday, September 1st, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
  • Shadow Raids:
    • One- and Three-Star Shadow Raids will be available daily.
    • Five-Star Shadow Raids will be available on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), unless otherwise stated by Niantic.

 

Featured Attacks for Xerneas and Yveltal

Xerneas and Yveltal caught via reward catch encounters from Five-Star Raids will have a featured attack during their appearance in August (which overlaps with this event). The attacks are:

  • Xerneas will know Geomancy (Fast Attack).
  • Yveltal will know Oblivion Wing (Charged Attack).

 

Timed Research – Noxious Swamp

A Timed Research quest will be active during the event. It will focus on raiding and will reward Trainers with reward catch encounters with Poison- and Dragon-type Pokémon. We know that one of these rewards will feature Jangmo-o.

A complete list of tasks for all routes and the rewards will be shared here once the event is live.

 

  • Task: Power up Pokémon 15 times
    • Reward: Skrelp* Encounter
  • Task: Battle in 3 Raids
    • Reward: Alolan Grimer* Encounter
  • Task: Use 15 Super Effective Charged Attacks
    • Reward: Trapinch* Encounter
  • Task: Win 2 Raids using different Pokémon (six different species)
    • Reward: Druddigon* Encounter
  • Task: Win a Three-Star Raid using Pokémon with 2,500 CP or less
    • Reward: Hisuian Qwilfish Encounter
  • Completion Rewards: Jangmo-o Encounter, 50 Mega Salamence Energy, and 50 Mega Sceptile Energy.

 

Field Research Tasks

There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Grimer*, Dratini*, Trapinch*, Skrelp*, Noibat*, and Mareanie. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

  • Task: Catch 3 Dragon-type Pokémon
    • Reward: Dratini* OR Trapinch* OR Noibat* Encounter
  • Task: Catch 3 Poison-type Pokémon
    • Reward: Grimer* OR Skrelp* OR Mareanie Encounter
  • Task: Defeat 3 Team GO Rocket Grunts
    • Reward: 1 Mysterious Component

PokéStop Showcases

Throughout the event, PokéStops hosting Showcases during the event will ask Trainers to submit their biggest Skrelp. These Showcases will be happening at random until the end of the event.
