The Day of the Dead event returns in Pokémon GO! Continuing last year’s tradition of having select Pokémon sporting cempasúchil crowns, this year’s Día de Muertos event will bring back Duskull and add another Pokémon to this costumed family. And, just like last year, this event will only be around for two days. (For more details about the Season of Adventures Abound, you can check out our overall Season of Adventures Abound guide hub.)

Now, check out what’s happening during the Día de Muertos 2023 event with our guide below:

Pokémon GO’s Season of Adventures Abound – Día de Muertos 2023

Begins: Wednesday, November 1st, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Thursday, November 2nd, 2023 at 8 p.m. your local time.

Pokémon debuts – Costumed Cubone and Marowak

For the Día de Muertos 2023 event, there will be another Pokemon sporting a cempasúchil crown. Last year it was Duskull’s evolution family and this year it’s Cubone’s! Luckily, Duskull and crew will be available again.

  • Cubone wearing a cempasúchil crown (Costumed Cubone): You can find this Costumed Cubone in the wild, with the help of Incense and Lure Modules, in One-Star Raids, and as a reward catch encounter via select Field Research task(s).
    • Marowak wearing a cempasúchil crown (Costumed Marowak): The only way to get this Costumed Marowak is to catch a Cubone wearing a cempasúchil crown and evolve ’em with 50 Cubone Candies.
  • Duskull wearing a cempasúchil crown (Costumed Duskull): While not new, this Duskull was only available during last year’s event. Here’s your chance to catch ’em again via Wild, Incense, and Lured encounters.
    • Dusclops wearing a cempasúchil crown (Costumed Dusclops): Thanks to the return of Costumed Duskull, you can get a Costumed Dusclops too, but only via evolving. You’ll need a Costumed Duskull and 25 Duskull Candies.
      • Dusknoir wearing a cempasúchil crown (Costumed Dusknoir): Similar to Costumed Dusclops, Costumed Dusknoir can only be obtained via evolving. You’ll need a Costumed Dusclops and 100 Duskull Candies.

Note: Going forward, these Pokémon will be referred to as “Costumed” rather than the exact outfit they are wearing.
