Pokémon GO’s long-running monthly event, Community Day, turned 4 years old in 2022. Four years means a plethora of Pokémon have been shown off with special, event-exclusive attacks and increased Shiny rates. (And now that we’re in 2024, it’s six years’ worth!) Yet, for newer Trainers, chances are they’ve missed out on most of these gatherings.

In January 2022 (during the Season of Heritage), Niantic brought back a Community Day from 2018 (Bulbasaur’s Community Day) and called it Community Day Classic. This event was based on the old Community Day format (hours, previous Community Day Pokémon, and more), with a slight upgrade (namely photobomb encounters).

What was thought to be a one-time event (or a simple test) is now turning into a potential series. Niantic held a second Community Day Classic in April 2022 and continues to hold Community Day Classic events. Read on for all the details about this month’s event which will transport you to September 2020’s Community Day.

When will Pokémon GO’s January 2024 Community Day Classic take place?

January 2024’s Community Day Classic will be happening on Saturday, January 20th, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. your local time.

Evolve Porygon into their final evolution (Porygon to Porygon2 to Porygon-Z) and you’ll have a Porygon-Z that will know Tri Attack (Charged Attack).

Tri Attack is the Charged Attack that Porygon-Z could learn during its original Community Day event in September 2020. Its stats are the following:

  • Gyms and Raids: 75 power

  • Notes:
    • These attacks can only be learned when Porygon2 is evolved into Porygon-Z on Saturday, January 20th, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. your local time.
  • Evolution Notes:
    • To evolve Porygon into Porygon2, you’ll need 25 Porygon Candies and 1 Upgrade.
    • To evolve Porygon2 into Porygon-Z, you’ll need 100 Porygon Candies and 1 Sinnoh Stone.
    • Therefore, to evolve a Porygon all the way to Porygon-Z, you’ll need a total of 125 Porygon Candies, 1 Upgrade, and 1 Sinnoh Stone.
