Pokémon GO’s Season of Max Out’s Yamask and Galarian Yamask Research Day event guide

October’s Research Day in Pokémon will certainly be spooky. Ghost-type Pokémon Yamask and Galarian Yamask are being featured in this Field Research task focused event. Plus, a few other Pokémon are being featured as wild encounters. (For more details about the Season of Max Out, you can check out our Season of Max Out guide hub.)

Pokémon GO’s Season of Max Out – Yamask and Galarian Yamask Research Day

Begins: Saturday, October 19th, 2024 at 2 p.m. your local time.

Ends: Saturday, October 19th, 2024 at 5 p.m. your local time.

 

Pokémon featured – Yamask and Galarian Yamask

 

 

For this Research Day, Yamask and Galarian Yamask are being featured. They can be found via reward catch encounters in event-exclusive Field Research tasks and in the paid Timed Research quest. (Galarian Yamask will also be available in One-Star Raids during the event, but it is unclear if the increased chance for them to be shiny will apply to encountering them via Raids.)

Additionally, Cubone, Zigzagoon, Galarian Zigzagoon, Duskull, and Shieldon will be featured as Wild Encounters during the event.

 

Event Bonuses

• Event-themed Field Research tasks with encounters with Yamask and/or Galarian Yamask.
• Increased chance of encountering Shiny Yasmask and Shiny Galarian Yamask.
• Paid Timed Research featuring additional encounters with Yamask and Galarian Yamask.

 

Event Boxes

If any special event boxes or bundles are released during the event, they’ll be listed here once the event is live. Daily bundles are also available and can be viewed online via the Pokémon GO Web Store.

 

Wild Encounters

• The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Cubone*, Zigzagoon*, Galarian Zigzagoon*, Duskull*, and Shieldon*.

Standard and Shadow Raids will be active during the event.

 

Standard Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:

• One-Star Raids: Gastly*, Misdreavus*, Sneasel*, Galarian Yasmask*, and Zorua*.
• Three-Star Raids: Hisuian Typhlosion*, Umbreon, Hariyama, and Bombirdier*.
• Five-Star Raids: Giratina (Origin Forme)* (See Additional Notes).
• Mega Raids: Mega Sableye* (See Additional Notes).

 

Shadow Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Shadow Raids:

• One-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Machop*, Shadow Gimer*, Shadow Exeggcute*, and Shadow Sudowoodo.
• Three-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Pinsir*, Shadow Sableye*, and Shadow Mawile*.
• Five-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Entei* (See Additional Notes).

Max Battles

• One-Star Max Battles: Dynamax Grookey, Dynamax Scrobunny, and Dynamax Sobble.
• Three-Star Max Battles: Dynamax Falinks*.

• Max Battles require Max Particles (MP):
  • One-Star Max Battles cost 250 MP.

Field Research Tasks

There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Yamask* and Galarian Yamask*. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

PokéStop Showcase

During the event, PokéStop Showcases will be active. The theme of these contests is to submit the biggest Pokémon being requested. This section will be updated once the PokéStop Showcases are active.

• Saturday, October 19th, 2024 at 10 a.m. to Sunday, October 20th, 2024 at 8 p.m. your local time: Yamask and Galarian Yamask (Showcase will specifically ask for one form and not the other)

 

Avatar Items

Various avatar items will be featured in the in-game shop during this event. Notably, the Lucario Mask from the Ultra Unlock: Mega Lucario Raid Day’s paid Raid Day ticket will be available to purchase for the first time (outside of the ticket). All items will be available for purchase (with PokéCoins) via the in-game shop. These avatar items will still be available to purchase after the conclusion of this event.

 

 

The new avatar items are the following: Lucario Mask (200 PokéCoins), Solgaleo Mask (250 PokéCoins), Yamask Mask (200 PokéCoins), Festival Mask (Pikachu) (100 PokéCoins), Festival Mask (Eevee) (100 PokéCoins), Pikachu Mask (150 PokéCoins), Sableye Mask (150 PokéCoins), and Banette Mask (150 PokéCoins).

 

Paid Timed Research – Yasmask and Galarian Yamask Premium Timed Research

During the Yamask and Galarian Yamask Research Day event, Trainers can purchase a ticket to access an event-themed Timed Research quests. For US$1.99 OR US$2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll get two Premium Timed Research quests which rewards Trainers with the following (if tasks are completed within the time limit): Yamask* encounters and Galarian Yamask* encounters.

According to Niantic, “[t]ickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service).” Tickets can also be gifted to Trainers you’re friends with provided that you have a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with them. This can be done via the in-game shop and by selecting the “Gift” button instead of the “Buy” button. Tickets purchased for friends are nonrefundable as well.

Please keep in mind that Timed Research quests have deadlines. Trainers must complete this Yamask and Galarian Yamask Research Day Premium Timed Research and claim all rewards before Saturday, October 19th, 2024 at 5 p.m. your local time.
