Two Research Day events were announced before the start of Pokémon GO’s Season of Max Out. The first is happening in September and appears to be themed after primate Pokémon. Specifically, Oranguru and Passimian will be featured in Field Research Tasks. A selection of other monkey Pokémon will be featured as wild encounters. Pokémon GO’s Season of Max Out – Research Day: Oranguru and Passimian

Begins: Sunday, September 22nd, 2024 at 2 p.m. your local time.

Ends: Sunday, September 22nd, 2024 at 5 p.m. your local time.

 

Pokémon featured – Oranguru and Passimian (Shiny Passimian debut) + Mankey, Aipom, Slakoth, Chimchar, and Grookey

 

 

  • Oranguru and Passimian are the stars of this Research Day. You can find them as reward catch encounters from event-exclusive Field Research Tasks and in the paid Timed Research.
    • Notably, Shiny Passimian debuts during this event. Shiny rates for Passimian and Oranguru will be boosted during the event.
  • Mankey, Aipom, Slakoth, Chimchar, and Grookey will be available during the event as Wild Encounters.

 

Event Bonuses

  • Event-exclusive Field Research tasks.
    • Pokémon encounters will be Oranguru or Passimian.
  • Increased chance of encountering Shiny Oranguru and Shiny Passimian.
  • Themed encounters will be appearing more frequently in the wild.
  • Paid Timed Research with additional encounters with Oranguru and Passimian.

 

This event also takes place during the Psychic Spectacular event, so the following bonuses will also be available:

  • 2× Stardust for catching Pokémon.
  • Additional Candy for Nice Throws or better.
  • Increased chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
  • Morelull encountered via Field Research will have a greater chance of being Shiny than when found in the wild.

 

Event Boxes

If any special event boxes or bundles are released during the event, they’ll be listed here once the event is live. Daily bundles are also available and can be viewed online via the Pokémon GO Web Store.

 

Wild Encounters

  • The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Mankey*, Aipom*, Slakoth*, Chimchar*, and Grookey.

Field Research Tasks

There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Oranguru* and Passimian*. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

A complete list of tasks and rewards will be shared here once the event is live. The following Field Research Tasks are based on what was available during the last Research Day event.

 

  • Task: Catch 5 Pokémon
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter
  • Task: Catch 5 ???-type Pokémon

  • Task: Make 3 Nice Throws in a row
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter
  • Task: Make 3 Great Throws
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter
  • Task: Make 5 Curveball Throws
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter
  • Task: Make 3 Curveball Throws in a row
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter
  • Task: Make 3 Nice Curveball Throws
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter
  • Task: Make a Great Curveball Throw
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter
  • Task: Use 3 Berries to help catch Pokémon
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter
  • Task: Use 3 Nanab Berries while catching Pokémon
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter
  • Task: Earn a Candy exploring with your Buddy
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter
  • Task: Earn 3 hearts with your Buddy
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter
  • Task: Spin 2 PokéStops or Gyms
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter
  • Task: Battle in a Gym
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter
  • Task: Use a Super Effective Charged Attack
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter
  • Task: Power up Pokémon 3 times
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter
  • Task: Send 3 Gifts and add a Sticker to each
    • Reward: Oranguru* encounter OR Passimian* encounter

PokéStop Showcase

During the event, PokéStop Showcases will be active. The theme of these contests is to submit the biggest Pokémon being requested. This section will be updated once the PokéStop Showcases are active.

Paid Timed Research – Research Day: Oranguru and Passimian  Timed Research

During the Research Day: Oranguru and Passimian event, Trainers can purchase a ticket to access an event-themed Timed Research. For US$1.99 OR US$2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll get the Research Day: Oranguru and Passimian Timed Research which rewards Trainers with the following (if tasks are completed within the time limit): Oranguru* encounters and Passimian* encounters.

According to Niantic, “[t]ickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service).” Tickets can also be gifted to Trainers you’re friends with provided that you have a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with them. This can be done via the in-game shop and by selecting the “Gift” button instead of the “Buy” button. Tickets purchased for friends are nonrefundable as well.

Please keep in mind that Timed Research quests have deadlines. Trainers must complete this Research Day: Oranguru and Passimian Timed Research and claim all rewards before Sunday, September 22nd, 2024 at 5 p.m. your local time.
