For Pokémon Day 2024, Trainers can celebrate by partaking in a short 24-hour-long impromptu event (which was then extended unexpectedly). A handful of party hat-wearing Costumed Pokémon return to celebrate Pokémon’s 28th anniversary. Yet, for Trainers who live near the Empire State Building in New York, you’ll get some extra event perks!

Pokémon GO’s Season of Timeless Travels – Pokémon Presents (a.ka. Pokémon Day 2024)
Begins: Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 at 6 a.m. PT | 9 a.m. ET
Ends: Thursday, February 29th, 2024 at 10 a.m. PT | 1 p.m. ET (originally slated to end on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024 at 6 a.m. PT)
Pokémon featured – Party Hat Pokémon
For Pokémon Day 2024, the following Party Hat-wearing Pokémon will return:
- Party Hat Bulbasaur
- Party Hat Charmander
- Party Hat Squirtle
- Party Hat Pikachu
- Party Hat Eevee
Notes:
- Going forward, these Pokémon will be referred to as “Costumed” rather than the exact outfit they are wearing.
- Shiny versions will be available for all.
- Evolved Party Hat versions exist for Charmander and Squirtle’s evolution line.
Event Bonuses
- Costumed Pokémon appearing in the wild
Event Boxes
If any special event boxes or bundles are released during the event, they’ll be listed here once the event is live.
Wild Encounters
- The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Costumed Bulbasaur*, Costumed Charmander*, Costumed Squirtle*, Costumed Pikachu*, and Costumed Eevee*.

Empire State Building Activation
According to a press release on Pokémon’s press site, “Trainers who visit the Empire State Building anytime on Feb. 27, 2024, can complete exclusive Timed Research tasks in Pokémon GO to earn rewards including Incense, Lure Modules and an encounter with Pikachu wearing a party hat. Additional themed PokéStops will be available near the Empire State Building, and Lure Modules used on PokéStops will have a higher chance of attracting the Symbol Pokémon, Unown.”
Lure Module Encounters
- If you’re lucky, you might encounter the following Pokémon: Unown E and Unown S.
- Shiny versions of these Unown will not be available.

Timed Research – Me, You, and Pikachu!
A Timed Research will be available when Trainers spin a PokéStop at the Empire State Building activation and it will reward Trainers with a Costumed Pikachu* encounter, Incense, Lure Modules, and possibly more.

Step 1/2
- Task: Make a new friend
- Reward: 1,000 Stardust
- Task: Trade a Pokémon
- Reward: 1,000 XP
- Completion Rewards: Costumed Pikachu* Encounter
Step 2/2
- Task: Take a snapshot of your Buddy
- Reward: 20 Pikachu Candies
- Completion Rewards: 1 Lure Module and 1 Incense

Field Research Tasks
There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Lapras*, Galarian Weezing*, Galarian Mr. Mime*, Furfrou*, Goomy*, and Jangmo-o. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops only at the Empire State Building (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

- Task: Catch 10 Pokémon
- Reward: Lapras*, Galarian Weezing*, Galarian Mr. Mime*, Furfrou*, Goomy*, and Jangmo-o.
- Task: Earn 6 hearts with your Buddy
- Reward: Lapras*, Galarian Weezing*, Galarian Mr. Mime*, Furfrou*, Goomy*, and Jangmo-o.
- Task: Send 5 Gifts and add a Sticker to each
- Reward: Lapras*, Galarian Weezing*, Galarian Mr. Mime*, Furfrou*, Goomy*, and Jangmo-o.
