Monster Hunter Rise is back in the news again almost six years after it first released for Nintendo Switch. While not a Switch 2 update like some people are hoping for, Capcom has revealed that Rise has surpassed 20 million total sales across all platforms. That’s pretty outstanding for a game you’d think had slowed down after Monster Hunter Wilds released. Instead, Rise is growing more and more and has nearly matched Monster Hunter World’s own 22.4 million units.
To celebrate the occasion, Capcom uploaded some new artwork to the Monster Hunter Twitter account that shows Minoto, Hinoa, Utsushi, and Yomogi enjoying plates of dango together. It’s funny how despite not having played the game for a few years now, I can remember everyone’s location, demeanor, and general purpose. Kamura Village certainly left an impression on me that hasn’t faded, and I may just have to boot the game up again for old time’s sake.
Monster Hunter Rise has hit the magnificent milestone of 20 million copies sold! To celebrate, please enjoy this Dango filled special artwork from the team. Thank you for your support, hunters of Kamura 🍡#MHRise is currently discounted on Nintendo eShop & Steam too! pic.twitter.com/ZOcB2OLvHu

In just a few months, Monster Hunter Wilds will finally hit Switch 2 (December 4, 2026, to be exact), and that may help boost its sales numbers significantly. There’s no breakdown on which platform Rise has sold better on, but I imagine its nearly two year exclusivity on consoles helped buff Switch numbers. If you haven’t already purchased the game, why not give our reviews for both Rise and its expansion, Sunbreak, a read? Both still hold up all these years later, and with a current ludicrously deep sale on the eShop and Steam, you can jump in for $10 in total.
