The last weekend before Christmas is going to be a busy one in Pokémon GO! Before the Winter Holiday Part 1 event switches over to is Part 2 edition, Trainers will get to partake in a weekend of more bonuses, Collection Challenges, and a new Pokémon debut. While Wyrdeer will be available in Raids on Saturday during the Wyrdeer Raid Day event, Trainers can also catch one during this weekend if a Collection Challenge is completed! Since the Winter Wonderland event overlaps with two other events, some information from those events has been included. Pokémon GO’s Season of Timeless Travels – Winter Wonderland
Begins: Saturday, December 23rd, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
Ends: Sunday, December 24th, 2023 at 8 p.m. your local time.
Pokémon featured – Wyrdeer
Wyrdeer enters the scene in Pokémon GO during the Winter Wonderland and Wyrdeer Raid Day events. (Yes, including its shiny version!) While Trainers can only battle Wyrdeer for three hours on Saturday, December 23rd, 2023 (besides jumping time zones with Remote Raid Passes), there will be another way to catch ’em. A variety of Collection Challenges will be available and at least one of them (the Catch and Evolution Collection Challenges) will reward Trainers with a catch encounter Wyrdeer – only if you complete it in time!
Event Bonuses
- 2× XP for winning Raid Battles.
- Up to five Special Trades can be made a day.
- Trades made during the event will require 50% less Stardust.
The Wyrdeer Raid Day event happens during the Winter Wonderland event. So, on Saturday, December 23rd, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. your local time, the following bonuses will also be active:
- Wyrdeer will appear more frequently in raids.
- You’ll have an increased chance of encountering Shiny Wyrdeer.
- Up to five additional daily Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs during the event and up to two hours afterward.
- The Remote Raid Pass limit will be increased to 10 on Friday, December 22nd, 2023, at 4 p.m. PT to Saturday, December 23rd, 2023, at 7 p.m. PT.
Plus, this event also overlaps with the Winter Holiday Part 1 event, so the following bonuses will be active (during the entire Winter Wonderland event):
- 2× XP for catching Pokémon OR 2× Stardust for catching Pokémon
- Only one can be chosen. Trainers will get to pick when participating in the free Winter Wishes Timed Research
- Increased XP and Stardust from opening Gifts
Event Boxes
If any special event boxes or bundles are released during the event, they’ll be listed here once the event is live.
- Great Raid Box (650 PokéCoins, no purchase limit): 3 Remote Raid Passes, 2 Premium Battle Passes, and 10 Max Revives.
PokéStop Showcase
During the event, PokéStop Showcases will be active. The theme of these contests is to submit the biggest event-themed Pokémon being requested.
- Tuesday, December 19th, 2023 at 10 a.m. to Saturday, December 23rd, 2023 at 8 p.m. your local time: Delibird and Cetoddle
- Saturday, December 23rd, 2023 at 2 p.m. to Sunday, December 24th, 2023 at 8 p.m. your local time: Wyrdeer
Collection Challenges
Special, event-exclusive Collection Challenges will be available. According to Niantic, these Collection Challenges will reward Trainers with an encounter with Wyrdeer*, an encounter with Costumed Psyduck* (which will be released during the Winter Holiday Part 2 event), and an addition to the Elite Collector medal (for each challenge completed). A complete list of what Pokémon must be caught/traded/evolved and the associated rewards will be added here once the event is live.
Winter Wonderland 2023: Collection Challenge
- Catch: Costumed Spheal, Costumed Stantler, Costumed Pikachu, and Costumed Eevee.
- Evolve: Costumed Pikachu to Costumed Raichu, Costumed Eevee to Costumed Vaporeon, Costumed Eevee to Costumed Jolteon, and Costumed Eevee to Costumed Flareon.
- Completion Rewards: 10,000 XP, Wyrdeer* Encounter, and 1 Lure Module.
Trade-focused Collection Challenge
- Trade: Costumed Eevee, Costumed Pikachu, Costumed Stantler, and Costumed Spheal.
- Completion Rewards: 10,000 XP, Costumed Psyduck* Encounter, and 1 Lure Module.
Note: Pokémon marked with an * means that “If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!”
