This year’s April Fools’ Day event in Pokémon GO is a trick in your favor! For some strange reason, Nice and Great Throws are registering as Excellent Throws. Take advantage of the XP catch bonus and take part in some free Timed Research. Plus, if you’re looking for Spinda, there’s a Field Research task available, but for one day only! Pokémon GO’s Season of World of Wonders – An Excellent Opportunity
Begins: Monday, April 1st, 2024 at 12 a.m. your local time.
Ends: Monday, April 1st, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. your local time.
Pokémon featured – Spinda
Missing some Spinda patterns? If so, seek out the Make 3 Great Curveball Throws in a row Field Research task. The catch encounter is one of eight Spinda patterns, and if you’re lucky, you could encounter the shiny version!
Event Bonuses
- Nice Throws or better will register as Excellent Throws
- Shows up as “It’s easier to make Excellent Throws today! Professor Willow is investigating…” in the app.

If any special event boxes or bundles are released during the event, they’ll be listed here once the event is live.
Timed Research – An Excellent Opportunity
A Timed Research quest called An Excellent Opportunity will be active during the event.

Field Research Tasks
There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Spinda*. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

- Task: Make 3 Excellent Throws
- Reward: 10 Poké Balls OR 5 Great Balls OR 2 Ultra Balls
- Task: Make 3 Nice Throws in a row
- Reward: 300 Stardust
- Task: Make 3 Great Throws in a row
- Reward: 500 Stardust
- Task: Make 3 Excellent Throws in a row
- Reward: 1,000 Stardust
- Task: Make 5 Great Curveball Throws in a row
- Reward: Spinda* Encounter (See Notes)

- Pokémon marked with an * means that “If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!”
