Happy 2024! Pokémon GO’s yearly New Year’s event is back, but the start time is a bit different. Instead of kicking off on New Year’s Eve, 2024’s New Year’s event will start up when we’re well into 2024 (10 a.m. on January 1st). For a few days, a variety of party hat-wearing Pokémon will be back to celebrate and there will be a new costumed debut. This time Jigglypuff is ready to join the festivities and will be dressed up in a ribbon. (For more details about the Season of Timeless Travels, you can check out our overall Season of Timeless Travels guide hub.)
Now, check out what’s happening during the Pokémon GO New Year’s 2024 event with our guide below:
Pokémon GO’s Season of Timeless Travels – Pokémon GO New Year’s 2024
Begins: Monday, January 1st, 2024 at 10 a.m. your local time.
Ends: Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024 at 8 p.m. your local time.
Pokémon debuts – Costumed Jigglypuff and Costumed Wigglytuff + return of Costumed Pokémon
For the first event of 2024, there is only one (ok, technically two) big costume debut:
- Jigglypuff wearing a ribbon (Costumed Pokémon): Jigglypuff is New Year’s 2024 event Pokémon! Unlike their party hat counterparts, Jigglypuff will be sporting a ribbon. To add this Costumed Jigglypuff to your collection, you can find them in the wild and in the Paid Timed Research.
- Wigglytuff wearing a ribbon (Costumed Pokémon): You won’t find this dressed-up Wigglytuff in the wild. Instead, you’ll have to catch a Jigglypuff wearing a ribbon and evolve ’em with 50 Jigglypuff Candies.
Previous party-hat wearing Pokémon that have been featured in a variety of events will also be back for New Year’s:
- Hoothoot wearing a New Year’s outfit (Costumed Hoothoot): From New Year’s 2022 and 2023 events, this Costumed Hoothoot is back! You can also evolve them into a Costumed Noctowl version (which debuted during the 2023 event).
- Bulbasaur wearing a party hat (Costumed Bulbasaur): This Costumed Bulbasaur was only available during Pokémon Day 2020 and New Year’s 2022 and 2023 events. Luckily they’ve made the cut for the 2024 event.
- Charmander wearing a party hat (Costumed Charmander): If you missed out on the Pokémon Day 2020, New Year’s 2022, and Pokémon GO 6th Anniversary events, then you’ll want to make sure that you catch this Costumed Charmander. These guys can also be evolved into a Charmeleon wearing a party hat and a Charizard wearing a party hat.
- Squirtle wearing a party hat (Costumed Squritle): Ah, this party hat-wearing Squritle is familiar! While they’ve been featured in Pokémon Day 2020 and New Year’s 2022 and 2023 events, they were also the star of Pokémon GO’s 7th anniversary this year. You can also evolve this Costumed Squirtle into a Wartortle wearing a party hat and a Blastoise wearing a party hat.
- Raticate wearing a party hat (Costumed Raticate): Hailing from the Adventure Sync Hatchathon of 2020 and New Year’s 2021 – 2023 events, this Costumed Raticate is back to ring in 2024.
- Nidorino wearing a party hat (Costumed Nidorino): Starring in Pokémon Day 2020 Raid Day and New Year’s 2022 and 2023 events, Costumed Nidorino returns for 2024.
- Gengar wearing a party hat (Costumed Gengar): They’re back! This partying Gengar (which was featured in the Pokémon Day 2020 Raid Day and New Year’s 2022 and 2023 events) will be back in 2024.
- Pichu wearing a party hat (Costumed Pichu): Debuting during the Pokémon Day 2018 event, this party hat-wearing Pichu is back. You can evolve this Pichu into Pikachu wearing a party hat (and even Raichu wearing a party hat). The latter two haven’t appeared in events since 2020, so here’s your chance to add them to your Costume Pokédex.
- Wobbuffet wearing a party hat (Costumed Wobbuffet): Previously featured in the Adventure Sync Hatchathon of 2020 and New Year’s 2021 – 2023 events, Wobbuffet is back for 2024.
- Wurmple wearing a party hat (Costumed Wurmple): Party Hat Wurmple LIVES! Featured in the Adventure Sync Hatchathon of 2020 and New Year’s 2021 – 2023 events, here’s another chance to add them to your collection.
Note: Going forward, Pokémon wearing outfits (part hats, ribbons, etc.) will be referred to as “Costumed” rather than the exact outfit they are wearing.
