Shadow Lugia is back in Five-Star Shadow Raids this weekend thanks to the Adventure Week: Taken Over event. Trainers, here’s your chance to catch a Shiny Shadow Lugia, but first you must defeat one in a Shadow Raid! (For more details about the Season of Shared Skies, you can check out our Season of Shared Skies guide hub.)

Now, check out what’s happening during the Shadow Lugia Raid Weekend event with our guide below:

Pokémon GO’s Season of Shared Skies – Shadow Lugia Raid Weekend

Active Five-Star Shadow Raid times:

  • Day 1: Saturday, August 10th, 2024 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. your local time.
  • Day 2: Sunday, August 11th, 2024 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. your local time.

Pokémon featured – Shadow Lugia

Shadow Lugia is back! Trainers will only be able to find Shadow Lugia in Five-Star Shadow Raids. (And if you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny Shadow Lugia during the catch reward encounter.) In order to participate in these Raids, Trainers will need either a daily free Raid Pass OR a Premium Battle Pass (Remote Raid Passes cannot be used for Shadow Raids).

It’s recommended to have Purified Gems when participating in a Shadow Raid. During a Shadow Raid, the Shadow Pokémon being challenged may enter an enraged state (which increases the difficulty of the Shadow Raid). When this happens, all participating Trainers can use a Purified Gem to calm the Pokémon. Each Trainer can use up to 5 Purified Gems during a Shadow Raid and Trainers can hold up to 10 Purified Gems at one time.

To acquire Purified Gems, Trainers will need to collect Shadow Shards by successfully battling Team GO Rocket members. It takes four Shadow Shards to make 1 Purified Gem.

Event Bonuses

  • Team GO Rocket will appear more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons.
  • You can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration.

Also, the bonuses from the Adventure Week event will still be active:

  • 2× XP for spinning PokéStops.
  • 5× XP for spinning a PokéStop for the first time.
  • 2× XP for hatching Pokémon.
  • Increased chance to encounter the following Shiny Pokémon: Cranidos, Shieldon, Tirtouga, Archen, Tyrunt, and Amaura.
