Adventure Week returns during Pokémon GO’s Season of Shared Skies. For this year’s version, select Fossil Pokémon will be featured… and the event will be crashed halfway through by Team GO Rocket (aptly named the Adventure Week: Taken Over event). Pokémon GO’s Season of Shared Skies – Adventure Week
Begins: Friday, August 2nd, 2024 at 10 a.m. your local time.
Ends: Monday, August 12th, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. your local time.
Pokémon featured – Fossil Pokémon (Cranidos, Shieldon, Tirtouga, Archen, Tyrunt, Amaura, and more)
Fossil Pokémon are once again featured for this year’s Adventure Week. In particular, the following Pokémon will be in the spotlight: Cranidos, Shieldon, Tirtouga, Archen, Tyrunt, and Amaura. These six Pokémon can be found in 7 km Eggs obtained during the event, in Field Research tasks, and (possibly) in the event’s paid Timed Research.
Event Bonuses
- 2× XP for spinning PokéStops.
- 5× XP for spinning a PokéStop for the first time.
- 2× XP for hatching Pokémon.
- Increased chance to encounter the following Shiny Pokémon: Cranidos, Shieldon, Tirtouga, Archen, Tyrunt, and Amaura.
Also, the Mega Rayquaza Special Raid Event overlaps with the Adventure Week event, so an additional bonus will be in effect for a limited time:
- The Remote Raid Pass limit will increase to 20 from Friday, August 2nd, at 5 p.m. to Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, to 8 p.m. PDT.
And the following bonuses will start on Thursday, August 8th, 2024 at 12 a.m. your local time (when the Adventure Week: Taken Over event begins):
- Team GO Rocket will appear more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons.
- You can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration.

Field Research Tasks
There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Dunsparce*, Lileep*, Anorith*, Cranidos*, Shieldon*, Roggenrola*, Drilbur*, Tirtouga*, Archen*, Bunnelby*, Tyrunt*, and Amaura*. Aerodactyl Mega Energy will also be rewarded when specific tasks are completed. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

During the event, PokéStop Showcases will be active. The theme of these contests is to submit the biggest Pokémon being requested. This section will be updated once the PokéStop Showcases start.

Collection Challenges
Special, event-exclusive Collection Challenges will be available. According to Niantic, this Collection Challenge will reward Trainers with Stardust, Pokémon encounters, Aerodactyl Mega Energy, and an addition to the Elite Collector medal. A complete list of what Pokémon must be caught/traded/evolved and the associated rewards will be added here once the event is live.
Ancient Discoveries Collection Challenge
- Catch: Kabuto, Aerodactyl, and Omanyte.
- Evolve: Kabuto into Kabutops and Omanyte into Omastar.
- Completion Rewards: 2,500 Stardust, Anorith* encounter, and 25 Aerodactyl Mega Energy
Dig It Collection Challenge
- Catch: Drilbur, Dunsparce, and Diglett.
- Evolve: Drilbur into Excadrill and Diglett into Dugtrio.
- Completion Rewards: 2,500 Stardust, Lileep* encounter, and 25 Aerodactyl Mega Energy
Paid Ticket – Adventure Week Premium Timed Research
During the Adventure Week and Adventure Week: Taken Over events, Trainers can purchase a ticket to access an event-themed Timed Research. For US$1.99 OR US$2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll get the Adventure Week Premium Timed Research which rewards Trainers with the following items (if tasks are completed within the time limit): 2 Incubators, 1 Super Incubator, and encounters with event-themed Pokémon.
According to Niantic, “[t]ickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service).” Tickets can also be gifted to Trainers you’re friends with provided that you have a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with them. This can be done via the in-game shop and by selecting the “Gift” button instead of the “Buy” button. Tickets purchased for friends are nonrefundable as well.
Please keep in mind that Timed Research quests have deadlines. Trainers must complete this Adventure Week Timed Research and claim all rewards before Monday, August 12th, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. your local time.
