Pokémon’s 2024 Worlds event is taking place on the island of O’ahu. Trainers that have qualified from around the world will be battling it out in Pokémon TCG, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE for three days. In celebration of the festivities, a Pokémon GO event will be taking place around the world. Attendees of the 2024 Pokémon World Championships will get to partake in some special in-person bonuses too. (For more details about the Season of Shared Skies, you can check out our Season of Shared Skies guide hub.)

Now, check out what’s happening during the 2024 Pokémon World Championships event with our guide below:

Pokémon GO’s Season of Shared Skies – 2024 Pokémon World Championships event

Begins: Friday, August 16th, 2024 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Tuesday, August 20th, 2024 at 8 p.m. your local time.

Pokémon debuts – Costumed Pikachu, Shiny Mienfoo, and Shine Mienshao

There are three debuts for the 2024 Pokémon World Championships celebration event: a Pikachu wearing a costume related to this year’s theme, Shiny Mienfoo, and Shiny Mienshao.

  • World Championships 2024 Pikachu (Costumed Pikachu): With the 2024 Pokémon World Championships taking place in Hawai’i, official artwork promoting the event has been focused on snorkeling (showcasing a variety of Water-type Pokémon). Pikachu in Pokémon GO will be wearing that snorkel outfit shown in the artwork. If you’re lucky, you might even encounter a Shiny version of this Pikachu!
    • Note: Going forward, this Pokémon will be referred to as “Costumed” rather than the exact outfit they are wearing.
  • Shiny Mienfoo: If you’re lucky, you may encounter Shiny Mienfoo via One-Star Raids and as catch reward encounters in select Field Research Tasks.
    • Shiny Mienshao: If you have a Shiny Mienfoo, you can evolve ’em into a Shiny Mienshao with 50 Mienfoo Candies.

Pokémon GO World Championships Twitch Drop Timed Research quests

Globally, there will be three “free” Timed Research quests released for this Pokémon GO event, but each will require some watch time on Twitch. After connecting your Pokémon Trainer Club account to your Twitch account (see this FAQ page for detailed steps), Trainers will need to watch at least 30 minutes of the event via the official Pokémon GO Twitch or a co-streamer (you must keep the tab open and do not minimize it). Once you’ve met the required watch time, you’ll be given a code that can be redeemed via Niantic’s Offer Redemption page (Claim Twitch Drop on the Twitch Drops page, then “Show Code” on the rewards.pokemon.com page, and then input that code into the Offer Redemption page). If redeemed successfully, you’ll be notified via the device you play Pokémon GO on.

Codes obtained from these different watch times will be valid until Monday, August 26th, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. UTC (4:59 p.m. PT | 7:59 p.m. ET). For more details about these Timed Research quests, you can check out the official Pokémon GO blog.
