Two more Ultra Beasts have suddenly appeared in Pokémon GO this week, and they’re joined by plenty of Steel-type Pokémon. While we’re expecting at least one more Ultra Beast addition in Pokémon GO (thanks to Guzzlord’s appearance in the found footage of Kartana and on Pokémon GO’s current loading screening, hinting at a Halloween arrival), for now, Trainers will have to seek out Celesteela and Kartana in Pokémon GO’s Season of Light’s Test Your Mettle event!
Celesteela and Kartana will be available for a bit longer after the event ends, along with the newly added Mega Aggron and Togedemaru. Catching them during the event, however, will help you out with completing a special “catch a bunch of Steel-type Pokémon” Timed Research.

Pokémon GO’s Season of Light – Test Your Mettle
Begins: Friday, September 16th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.
Ends: Wednesday, September 21st, 2022 at 8 p.m. your local time.
Pokémon debuts – Kartana, Celesteela, Mega Aggron*, and Togedemaru
Kartana and Celesteela are finally here! They debuted a little bit earlier this week, in time for Raid Hour on Wednesday, September 14th, 2022 from 6 to 7 p.m. your local time. You’ll be able to battle them in 5-Star Raids (look for the Ultra Wormholes). There’s just one catch with ’em – they’re regional exclusives. Kartana will only appear in Raids located in the Northern Hemisphere, whereas Celesteela will only appear in Raids located in the Southern Hemisphere. Remote Raid time, anyone?
In Mega Raids, you’ll find Mega Aggron* for the very first time in Pokémon GO! Defeat Mega Aggron* and you’ll get a catch encounter with Aggron* and earn some Aggron Mega Energy. Collect 200 Aggron Mega Energy and you’ll be able to Mega Evolve your own Aggron!
Finally, Togedemaru (the Roly-Poly Pokémon) from the Alola region is being added to Pokémon GO! You’ll find them in the wild, 1-Star Raids, and reward encounters for Field and Timed Research Tasks.
Note: Pokémon marked with an * means that “If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!”
