The Psychic-type Pokémon-themed event – the Psychic Spectacular – returns for 2024! Now with Max Battles available, Dynamax Beldum will be added to the mix. Plus, we’ll see the debut of Hatenna, Hattrem, and Hatterene. (For more details about the Season of Max Out, you can check out our Season of Max Out guide hub.)

Pokémon GO’s Season of Max Out – Psychic Spectacular

Begins: Wednesday, September 18th, 2024 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Sunday, September 22nd, 2024 at 8 p.m. your local time.

 

Pokémon debuts – Hatenna, Hattrem, Hatterene, Dynamax Beldum, Dynamax Metang, and Dynamax Metagross

 

 

  • Hatenna: To add Hatenna to your team, you’ll want to seek them out in wild encounters (if you’re lucky), hatch 7 km Eggs obtained during the event (… if you’re lucky), complete select Field Research tasks, complete the paid Timed Research, and complete the event’s Collection Challenges.
    • Hattrem: To get Hattrem, you’ll need to evolve a Hatenna with 25 Hatenna Candies.
      • Hatterene: To get a Hatterene, you’ll need to evolve a Hattrem with 100 Hatenna Candies.
  • Dynamax Beldum: Beldum with the ability to Dynamax can only be found in Three-Star Max Battles (this is based on the Max Battles costing 400 Max Particles instead of 250). Successfully defeat a Dynamax Beldum and you’ll be rewarded with a catch encounter.
    • Dynamax Metang: To get a Dynamax Metang, you must evolve a Dynamax Beldum with 25 Beldum Candies.
      • Dynamax Metagross: To get a Dynamax Metagross, you’ll need to evolve a Dynamax Metang with 100 Beldum Candies.

 

Event Bonuses

  • 2× Stardust for catching Pokémon.
  • Additional Candy for Nice Throws or better.
  • Increased chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
  • Morelull encountered via Field Research will have a greater chance of being Shiny than when found in the wild.

 

The Research Day: Oranguru and Passimian event will be happening on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. your local time, so the following bonuses will be active during that time period:

  • Event-exclusive Field Research tasks.
    • Pokémon encounters will be Oranguru or Passimian.
  • Increased chance of encountering Shiny Oranguru and Shiny Passimian.
  • Themed encounters will be appearing more frequently in the wild.
  • Paid Timed Research with additional encounters with Oranguru and Passimian.

 

Event Boxes

If any special event boxes or bundles are released during the event, they’ll be listed here once the event is live. Daily bundles are also available and can be viewed online via the Pokémon GO Web Store.

 

Wild Encounters

  • The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Ralts*, Spoink*, Gothita*, Solosis*, Elgyem*, Spritzee*, Swirlix*, Inkay*, and Morelull*.
    • If you’re lucky, you might encounter the following Pokémon: Hatenna.

Eggs

The following Pokémon will be hatching from Eggs that are obtained during the event:

  • 7 km Eggs
    • 1-Egg Rarity: Mawile*, Chingling*, Espurr*, and Hatenna.

Raids

Standard and Shadow Raids will be active during the event.

 

Standard Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:

  • One-Star Raids: Wobbuffet*, Girafarig*, Hisuian Qwlifish*, Bronzor*, and Roselia*.
  • Three-Star Raids: Kleavor*, Galarian Mr. Mime*, Wyrdeer*, and Medicham.
  • Five-Star Raids: Groudon* (See Additional Notes).
  • Mega Raids: Mega Houndoom* (See Additional Notes).

 

Shadow Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Shadow Raids:

  • One-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Zubat*, Shadow Mareep, Shadow Pineco*, and Shadow Bagon*.
  • Three-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Alolan Marowak*, Shadow Scyther*, and Shadow Lapras*.
  • Five-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Raikou* (See Additional Notes).

  • Standard Raids:
    • Groudon* will be available after the event (in Five-Star Raids), until Thursday, September 26th, 2024 at 10 a.m. your local time.
    • Mega Houndoom* will be available after the event (in Mega Raids), until Thursday, September 26th, 2024 at 10 a.m. your local time.
  • Shadow Raids:
    • One- and Three-Star Shadow Raids will be available daily.
    • Five-Star Shadow Raids will be available on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), unless otherwise stated by Niantic.

 

Max Battles

  • One-Star Max Battles: Dynamax Bulbasaur*, Dynamax Charmander*, Dynamax Squirtle*, Dynamax Skwovet*, and Dynamax Wooloo*.
  • Three-Star Max Battles: Dynamax Beldum*.

  • Max Battles require Max Particles (MP):

Field Research Tasks

There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Gothita*, Solosis*, Elgyem*, Spritzee*, Swirlix*, Morelull*, and Hatenna. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

  • Task: Catch 10 Psychic- or Fairy-type Pokémon
    • Reward: Gothita* encounter OR Spritzee* encounter OR Morelull* encounter
  • Task: Make 6 Great Curveball Throws
    • Reward: Solosis* encounter OR Swirlix* encounter OR Morelull* encounter
  • Task: Make 3 Great Curveball Throws in a row
    • Reward: Elgyem* encounter OR Morelull* encounter
  • Task: Make an Excellent Curveball Throw
    • Reward: Morelull* encounter
  • Task: Win a Max Battle
    • Reward: Hatenna encounter
  • Task: Spin 5 PokéStops or Gyms
    • Reward: 5 Great Balls OR 1 Hyper Potion OR 1 Max Revive

PokéStop Showcase

During the event, PokéStop Showcases will be active. The theme of these contests is to submit the biggest Pokémon being requested. This section will be updated once the PokéStop Showcases are active.

  • Monday, September 16th, 2024 at 10 a.m. to Wednesday, September 18th, 2024 at 8 p.m. your local time: All Normal-type Pokémon
  • Saturday, September 21st, 2024 at 10 a.m. to Sunday, September 22nd, 2024 at 8 p.m. your local time: Oranguru and Passimian

 

Collection Challenges

Special, event-exclusive Collection Challenges will be available. According to Niantic, this Collection Challenge will reward Trainers with Stardust, XP, Hatenna encounters, and an addition to the Elite Collector medal. A complete list of what Pokémon must be caught/traded/evolved and the associated rewards will be added here once the event is live.

 

Marvelous Minds Collection Challenge: Catch

  • Catch: Spritzee, Swirlix, Morelull, Elgyem, and Inkay.
  • Completion Rewards: Hatenna encounter and 1,000 Stardust

 

Marvelous Minds Collection Challenge: Evolve

  • Catch: Ralts and Solosis.
  • Evolve: Ralts into Kirlia, Kirlia into Gardevoir, Solosis into Duosion, and Duosion into Reuniculus.
  • Completion Rewards: Hatenna encounter and 5,000 XP

 

Paid Ticket – Psychic Spectacular 2024 Premium Timed Reseasrch

During the event, Trainers can purchase a ticket to access an event-themed Timed Research. For US$1.99 OR US$2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll get the Psychic Spectacular Timed Research which rewards Trainers with the following (if tasks are completed within the time limit): 1 Incubator, 1 Super Incubator, 1 Star Piece, 15,000 XP, Morelull* encounter(s), and Hatenna encounter(s).

According to Niantic, “[t]ickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service).” Tickets can also be gifted to Trainers you’re friends with provided that you have a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with them. This can be done via the in-game shop and by selecting the “Gift” button instead of the “Buy” button. Tickets purchased for friends are nonrefundable as well.

Please keep in mind that Timed Research quests have deadlines. Trainers must complete this Psychic Spectacular 2024 Premium Timed Research and claim all rewards before Sunday, September 22nd, 2024 at 8 p.m. your local time.
