Now that we’re in a new season for Pokémon GO, that means it’s time for a Research Day event. Back to spotlighting one Pokémon, the Season of Adventures Abound’s event will focus on Oddish. For longtime Trainers, keep in mind that while this event isn’t referred to as a Limited Field Research Day event, the Oddish Research Day event follows the same format. Pokémon GO’s Season of Adventures Abound – Oddish Research Day
Begins: Sunday, September 17th, 2023 at 2 p.m. your local time.
Ends: Sunday, September 17th, 2023 at 5 p.m. your local time.
Pokémon featured – Oddish
Oddish* will be available as Pokémon encounters from event-exclusive Field Research tasks. They are also available as Pokémon encounters from a paid Timed Research.
Event Bonuses
- 2× Stardust for catching Pokémon.
- Increased chance of finding XXS or XXL Oddish.
- Wild Oddish may be holding a Sun Stone.
- Increased chance of encountering Shiny Oddish.
Event Boxes
If any special event boxes or bundles are released during the event, they’ll be listed here once the event is live.
Wild Encounters
- The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Paras*, Venonat*, Bellsprout*, Shroomish*, Roselia*, Cacnea*, Foongus*, and Bounsweet.
Note: Pokémon marked with an * means that “If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!”
Raids
Standard and Shadow Raids will be active during this event. While they aren’t advertised on the blog post for the event, they’ve been included in this guide below:
Standard Raids
The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:
- One-Star Raids: Mankey*, Seel*, Drowzee*, Magmar*, Wooper*, Snubbull*, Ralts*, Timburr*, Elgyem*, and Espurr.
- Three-Star Raids: Machamp, Scyther*, Typhlosion, Camerupt, Metagross, Infernape, Turtonator*, and Bombirdier*.
- Five-Star Raids: Genesect (Burn Drive)* (See Additional Notes).
- Mega Raids: Mega Gardevoir* (See Additional Notes).
Shadow Raids
The following Pokémon will be appearing in Shadow Raids:
- One-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Meowth*, Shadow Machop*, Shadow Wooper, and Shadow Pineco*.
- Three-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Magmar, Shadow Electabuzz, and Shadow Gligar*.
- Five-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Zapdos* (Please see Additional Notes).

- Pokémon marked with an * means that “If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!”
- Standard Raids:
- Genesect (Burn Drive)* will be available after the event (in Five-Star Raids), until Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
- This is also the debut appearance of Genesect (Burn Drive)’s shiny version.
- Mega Gardevoir* will be available after the event (in Mega Raids), until Friday, October 6th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
- Genesect (Burn Drive)* will be available after the event (in Five-Star Raids), until Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
- Shadow Raids:
- 1- and 3-Star Shadow Raids will be available daily.
- If 5-Star Shadow Raids are active, they will be limited to Saturdays and Sundays (unless noted by Niantic).
Field Research Tasks
There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Oddish*. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active. All Field Research tasks related to this event may be labeled “EVENT” and have a colored border around their box (i.e.: Searching for Gold Research Day’s color was gold).
All task rewards will be a catch reward encounter with Oddish*:
- Task: Catch a Poison-type Pokémon
- Task: Catch 3 Grass-type Pokémon
- Task: Evolve 3 Grass-type Pokémon
- Task: Transfer 5 Pokémon
- Task: Make 3 Nice Throws in a row
- Task: Make 3 Great Throws
- Task: Make a Great Curveball Throw
- Task: Make 3 Curveball Throws in a row
- Task: Use 3 Berries to help catch Pokémon
- Task: Use 3 Pinap Berries while catching Pokémon
- Task: Spin 2 PokéStops or Gyms
- Task: Battle in a Gym
- Task: Earn a Candy exploring with your Buddy
- Task: Take a snapshot of a wild Grass-type Pokémon
- Note: Due to an error, you may need to take a snapshot of a Pokémon you’ve already caught to redeem the catch reward. This may be fixed as the event rolls out.
- Task: Take a snapshot of a wild Poison-type Pokémon

PokéStop Showcase
During the event, PokéStop Showcases will be active. The theme of these contests is to submit the biggest Oddish.
