Gimmighoul and Gholdengo aren’t the only Pokémon debuting in Pokémon GO this week! Trainers in Mexico can now spot Hawlucha in-game and to celebrate, an exclusive event is happening in Mexico. (Note: This is referred to as a Bonus Event in the Today Menu in-game, but will be referred to as Hawlucha’s Debut event in this guide.) This event was announced on the official Pokémon GO Latin America Twitter account yesterday and is being advertised in print media (like Publicmetro’s March 1st, 2023 edition).
That said, early reports are confirming that Hawlucha’s spawn area is similar to Heracross – which means Trainers in Texas and Florida might spot ’em in the wild too. Still, Trainers in Mexico will have a special Timed Research for the debut as well as event bonuses.
Now, check out what’s happening during Hawlucha’s Debut event with our guide below:
Pokémon GO’s Season of Rising Heroes – Hawlucha’s Debut event
Begins: Wednesday, March 1st, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
Ends: Tuesday, March 7th, 2023 at 8 p.m. your local time.
Pokémon debuts – Hawlucha
Hawlucha, the Wrestling Pokémon, hails from the Kalos region. Clearly inspired by Mexican wrestling, it makes perfect sense for Hawlucha to be a regional exclusive in Pokémon GO. Trainers in Mexico will start seeing Hawlucha appear in the wild on March 1st, 2023. Trainers also in Texas and Florida might encounter Hawlucha in the wild as well, as the regional spawn area is similar to Heracross.
Event Bonuses
- Increased chance of Buddy Catch Assist if your Buddy Level is Great Buddy or higher
- 2× chance to get Candy XL from catching Pokémon
Timed Research – Choose Your Fighting Type
A branching Timed Research quest called Choose Your Fighting Type will be active during the event. The difference between all three routes is which Pokémon you’ll encounter and the type of Pokémon Candies you’ll be rewarded with.
A complete list of tasks for all routes and the rewards will be shared here once the event is live.
