The Día de Muertos event returns this year in Pokémon GO! This year’s event includes a pretty special addition – Pokémon wearing cempasúchil crowns. Duskull, Dusclops, and Dusknoir are the only ones wearing the flowers this time, yet there will be flowers showing up in other ways thanks to Roselia and Sunkern. Plus, more Ghost-type Pokémon will be around too.
While short, Trainers can also partake in a Collection Challenge and get bonuses when using Incense and/or Lure Modules!

Pokémon GO’s Season of Light – Día de Muertos 2022
Begins: Tuesday, November 1st, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.
Ends: Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022 at 8 p.m. your local time.
Pokémon debuts – Duskull, Dusclops, and Dusknoir wearing cempasúchil crowns
For this year’s Día de Muertos event, Duskull, Dusclops, and Dusknoir will be wearing cempasúchil crowns! Duskull will be available in the Wild, in Raids, and as a reward encounter for Field Research tasks. To get Dusclops and/or Dusknoir with the cempasúchil crowns, you’ll need to evolve Duskull with Duskull Candies. 25 Duskull Candies are required for Dusclops, whereas 100 Duskull Candies are required when evolving Dusclops to Dusknoir.
Niantic also notes that while Duskull wearing the cempasúchil crown may be shiny, Dusclops and Dusknoir aren’t. This might be made in error. We’ll have to wait for the event to start to double-check if Shiny Dusksull wearing a cempasúchil crown is prevented from evolving or not.
The addition of the cempasúchil crowns to Duskull, Dusclops, and Dusknoir classifies them as Costumed Pokémon. Going forward in this guide, Duskull, Dusclops, and Dusknoir wearing the cempasúchil crowns will be referred to as such (i.e. Costumed Duskull).
