Special Backgrounds

Previously exclusive to in-person Pokémon GO events (like Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn and Pokémon GO Fest 2023), there was a chance that specific Pokémon caught at these events could have a different background on the Pokémon’s summary page (instead of having the elemental background, it would be the event-exclusive background). For the Pokémon GO Fest 2024: Global, Trainers can get a Special Background for Ultra Beasts if the Ultra Beast is caught from a Five-Star Raid and if they’re lucky.

It has been confirmed that Ultra Beasts caught via Remote Raids can have the Special Background. It has also been confirmed that the first caught Ultra Beast of the day does not guarantee that Ultra Beast having a Special Background.

Adventure Effects: Sunsteel Strike and Moongeist Beam

Just like Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia, Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma have attacks that can activate Adventure Effects (a temporary bonus that alters gameplay). In order to utilize these Adventure Effects, you’ll need the following:

  • To get Dusk Mane Necrozma, you must have Necrozma and Solgaleo and fuse them together with 1,000 Solar Fusion Energy, 30 Necrozma Candies, and 30 Cosmog Candies.
  • To get Dawn Wings Necrozma, you must have Necrozma and Lunala and fuse them together with 1,000 Lunar Fusion Energy, 30 Necrozma Candies, and 30 Cosmog Candies.

Solar Fusion Energy and Lunar Fusion Energy can be obtained by defeating Dusk Mane Necrozma (Solar Fusion Energy) or Dawn Wings Necrozma (Lunar Fusion Energy) in Five-Star Raid Battles, from the Instagram giveaway codes, and as rewards from Special Research.

Once Trainers have Duck Mane Necrozma and/or Dawn Wings Necrozma, they can activate Sunsteel Strike Adventure Effect and/or Moongeist Beam Adventure Effect (for a small fee of 3,000 Stardust and 30 Necrozma Candies per activation). The Adventure Effect will last for 10 minutes and also provide the following bonuses:

  • Sunsteel Strike Adventure Effect: For 10 minutes, regardless of what time it is, it will be “daytime” allowing Trainers to evolve Pokémon that have daytime evolution requirements and daytime Pokémon spawns will be active.
    • Some of the Pokémon that you may encounter include: Pidgey*, Alolan Exeggutor*, Solrock*, Cottonee*, Helioptile*, Tyrunt*, Yungoos*, Rockruff*, Fomantis*, and more.
      • If you’re lucky, you may encounter Rockruff* that can evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc.
  • Moongeist Beam Adventure Effect: For 10 minutes, regardless of what time it is, it will be “nighttime” allowing Trainers to evolve Pokémon that have nighttime evolution requirements and nighttime Pokémon spawns will be active.
    • Some of the Pokémon that you may encounter include: Alolan Rattata*, Clefairy*, Alolan Marowak*, Hoothoot*, Galarian Zigzagoon*, Lunatone*, Munna*, Amura*, Rockruff*, and more.
      • If you’re lucky, you may encounter Rockruff* that can evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc.

Trainers can increase the timer of the Adventure Effect (in 10 minute increments) by using more Stardust and Necrozma Candies. The time will max out at 2 hours.

Illustrator, designer, writer and big Nintendo geek, you can find Jennifer with an N3DS within reach 24/7.
