Every few months, the seasons change into spring, summer, fall, or winter. Inspired by these changes Niantic added Seasons to Pokémon GO back in December 2020. Each Season in the mobile game is three months long and features special events, certain Pokémon appearing more often in the wild (in certain areas and hemispheres), refreshed Egg pool, and more. Instead of being named after the spring, summer, fall, or winter seasons, each Season in Pokémon GO is named after an idea/theme.

For June 2024, a new Season has begun and it’s called Shared Skies.

What is the Season of Shared Skies?

The Season of Shared Skies is Pokémon GO’s 15th in-game Season and starts on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at 10 a.m. your local time. During this Season, Niantic will be celebrating the 8th anniversary of Pokémon GO and hold four Pokémon GO Fest 2024 events.

When is the Season of Shared Skies?

The Season of Shared Skies takes place over three months – starting on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at 10 a.m. and ending on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024 at 10 a.m. your local time.

What is the focus of the Season of Shared Skies?

The focus of the Season of Shared Skies is primarily on this year’s Pokémon GO Fest events (three in-person events and one global version). We’ll see a number of Ultra Beasts “sharing the skies” with other Mythical and Legendary Pokémon like Mega Rayquaza.

Are there any new features being added during the Season of Shared Skies?

On the official Season of Shared Skies site, Pokémon debuts and some permanent game changes are currently listed. There might be more features added as the season progresses.

Pokémon debuts – Shiny Pokémon (Emolga, Jangmo-o, Shiny Buzzwole, Shiny Pheromosa, Shiny Xurkitree, and more), Marshadow, Necrozma (Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma too), and more

Thanks to Pokémon GO Fest 2024, a variety of new Pokémon debuts will be happening throughout the entire Season of Shared Skies.

  • Shiny Pokémon: Emolga, Ducklett, Crabrawler, Jangmo-o, Buzzwole, Pheromosa, and Xurkitree will have shiny debuts throughout this season. Whether that’s at GO Fest 2024 events or via worldwide events.
  • Marshadow: This Mythical Pokémon will be available to Pokémon GO Fest 2024 ticket holders via a Special Research quest.
  • Necrozma (along with Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma): Necrozma will only be available during Pokémon GO Fest 2024 events in Raids. Trainers attending any of the events with a paid ticket will also have a chance to catch a Shiny Necrozma.
    • Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma will be available to battle in Raids during Pokémon GO Fest 2024 Global, but cannot be caught. They can only be obtained by fusing Nexrozma with Solgaleo or Lunala (which requires Solar Fusion Energy or Lunar Fusion Energy).

Pokémon GO Fest 2024

This year’s Pokémon GO Fest will take place during the Season of World of Wonders and Season of Shared Skies. This is due to the scheduling of three in-person events plus the global event.

  • Thursday, May 30th, 2024 to Sunday, June 2nd, 2024: Pokémon GO Fest 2024: Sendai (Japan)
  • Friday, June 14th, 2024 to Sunday, June 16th, 2024: Pokémon GO Fest 2024: Madrid (Spain)
  • Friday, July 5th, 2024 to Sunday, July 7th, 2024: Pokémon GO Fest 2024: New York City (New York, United States)
  • Saturday, July 13th, 2024 and Sunday, July 14th, 2024: Pokémon GO Fest 2024: Global

As an incentive to buy the paid global ticket, Trainers can get two Timed Research quests for free (each giving Trainers a Sun and Moon-themed crown for their avatar). The catch is that the global ticket must be purchased before select dates and Trainers will need to play the game between specific dates.

Reminder – Pikachu, Ph.D. at your service

PokéStop Showcases have some Pikachu-themed perks as of the Season of World of Wonders! Announced on the official Pokémon GO blog, PokéStop Showcase wins will reward Trainers with pieces from the Pikachu, Ph.D.-themed Avatar set and encountering this Costumed Pikachu via a reward catch encounter.

  • Bronze medal (10 Wins): Pikachu, Ph.D. Headband
  • Silver medal (25 Wins): Pikachu, Ph.D. Glasses
  • Gold medal (50 Wins): Pikachu, Ph.D. Pose
  • Platinum medal (100 Wins): Encounter with Pikachu, Ph.D.

Reminder – Shiny Shadow Pokémon return

During this season, it appears that Five-Star Shadow Raids will feature Shadow Raikou, Shadow Entei, and Shadow Suicune again. Each Legendary Beast will be featured for a month and, if you’re lucky, you might capture a shiny one (if you defeat them in the Raid).
