The Season of Mythical Wishes’ kicked off Pokémon GO’s 9th Season with a one-day event, but now we’re onto the Season’s first multi-day event. Dubbed the Mythic Blade event, this event will feature a free model and paid model.

Trainers who wish to add Keldeo (Ordinary Form) to their Pokédex in Pokémon GO will have to purchase a paid ticket for US$7.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency) to unlock the Special Research story “Something Extraordinary”. Details for this can be found at the bottom of our guide.

To kick things off, we’ll cover the freebie portion of the Mythic Blade event first in our guide below:

 

Pokémon GO’s Season of Mythical Wishes – Mythic Blade

Begins: Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Sunday, December 11th, 2022 at 8 p.m. your local time.

 

Pokémon debuts – Keldeo (Ordinary Form) and Crabrawler

 

 

Keldeo (Ordinary Form) debuts in Pokémon GO, but there’s a catch. This Pokémon will be locked behind a paid ticket. Available via the Special Research (titled Something Extraordinary), Trainers will need to pay US$7.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency) in order to have access to the Research (and one other perk). It is unclear if/when Keldeo (Ordinary Form) will be available again and whether behind a paid ticket or not.

As for Crabrawler, the Boxing Pokémon is not locked behind the paid ticket. You’ll just have to get lucky when it comes to finding this Pokémon in the wild!

Wild Encounters

  • The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Mankey*, Machop*, Hitmonlee*, Hitmonchan*, Hitmonchop*, Combusken, Makuhita*, Meditite*, and Monferno.
    • If you’re lucky, you might encounter the following Pokémon: Poliwrath and Crabrawler.

Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:

  • One-Star Raids: Meditite*, Buizel*, Timburr*, and Tympole*.
  • Three-Star Raids: Poliwrath, Aerodactyl*, Skarmory*, and Breloom.
  • Five-Star Raids: Terrakion* and Virizion* (See Additional Notes).
  • Mega Raids: Mega Aggron* (See Additional Notes).

  • Pokémon marked with an * means that “If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!”
  • Terrakion and Virizion will be available in Five-Star Raids at different times during the event.
    • Virizion will appear in Five-Star Raids until Thursday, December 8th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.
    • Terrakion will appear in Five-Star Raids starting on Thursday, December 8th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time (and will be available after this event, until Thursday, December 15th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.)
  • Mega Aggron* will be available after the event (in Raids), until Thursday, December 15th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.

 

Featured Attacks for Terrakion, Virizion, and Keldeo

Terrakion, Virizion, and Keldeo caught under specific conditions will know the attack Sacred Sword (Charged Attack).

Sacred Sword’s (Charged Attack) stats are as follows:

  • Trainer Battles: 60 power
  • Gyms and Raids: 55 power

 

The requirements for Terrakion, Virizion, and Keldeo to learn this attack are as follows:

  • Terrakion: Caught from Five-Star Raids between Thursday, December 8th, 2022 at 10 a.m. to Thursday, December 15th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.
  • Virizion: Caught from Five-Star Raids between Thursday, December 1st, 2022 at 10 a.m. to Thursday, December 8th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.
  • Keldeo: Caught via the paid ticketed Special Research (Something Extraordinary). No hard set date or time has been listed.

 

Field Research Tasks

There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Galarian Farfetch’d*, Hitmonlee*, Hitmonchan*, and Hitmontop*. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active. A complete list of tasks and associated rewards will be added here once the event is live.

 

  • Task: Catch 7 Fighting-type Pokémon
    • Reward: Hitmonlee*, Hitmonchan*, OR Hitmontop* Encounter
  • Task: Catch 15 Fighting-type Pokémon
    • Reward: Galarian Farfetch’d* Encounter
  • Task: Power up Pokémon 15 times
    • Reward: Galarian Farfetch’d* Encounter

Collection Challenge – Mythic Blade Challenge

A special, event-exclusive Collection Challenge will be available. According to Niantic, this Collection Challenge will reward Trainers with 1 Fast TM, 1 Charged TM, and an addition to the Elite Collector medal. A complete list of what Pokémon must be caught/traded/evolved and the associated rewards will be added here once the event is live.

  • Catch the following Pokémon: Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, Hitmontop, Machop, Makuhita, Meditite, Crabrawler, and Galarian Farfetch’d.
  • Evolve to get the following Pokémon: Machoke, Hariyama, and Medicham.
    • Completion Rewards: 1 Fast TM, 1 Charged TM, and an addition to your Elite Collector medal.

 

Paid Ticket Event Access – Something Extraordinary

During the Mythic Blade event, Trainers can purchase a ticket to get access to certain perks. For US$7.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to pick up the exclusive Special Research story, Something Extraordinary, and receive increased Incense encounters (limited to regular Incense only, no Daily Adventure Incense).

According to Niantic, “[t]ickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service). Please note that this Special Research will not include an in-game medal.” Tickets can also be gifted to Trainers you’re friends with provided that you have a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with them. This can be done via the in-game shop and by selecting the “Gift” button instead of the “Buy” button.

Also, while the event starts on Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time, the paid Special Research story will not be released until Saturday, December 10th, 2022, at 10 a.m. your local time. Trainers can claim the Special Research story (provided that they paid the fee) until Sunday, December 11th, 2022, at 8 p.m. your local time. The Special Research story can be completed at any time once claimed/issued.

 

Season of Mythical Wishes’ Paid Ticketed Increased Incense Encounters

During the event, Trainers with a paid ticket can also get increased Pokémon encounters when using Incense (regular Incense only, not applicable with Daily Adventure Incense).

  • The following Pokémon will appear more frequently thanks to the increased Incense perk: Machop*, Hitmonlee*, Hitmonchan*, Hitmontop*, Beldum*, Tympole*, and Ferroseed*.

Season of Mythical Wishes’ Paid Ticketed Special Research – Something Extraordinary

As part of the paid ticket experience, Trainers will get a Special Research Story. Working with Professor Willow, Trainers will unravel the mystery behind a blurry picture that Spark took. Rewards that’ll be issued during this Special Research include the following: Keldeo T-Shirt Avatar Item, 14 Rare Candies, 12 Silver Pinap Berries, 2 Incubators, 2 Super Incubators, 2 Incense, a variety of Fighting- and Water-type Pokémon encounters, and more. Oh, and Keldeo (Ordinary Form) too!

Please note, this Special Research will be distributed when you log into Pokémon GO between Saturday, December 10th, 2022, at 10 a.m. and Sunday, December 11th, 2022, at 8 p.m. your local time. It can be completed at any time and has no completion deadline.
