Pokémon GO’s Season of Light’s Halloween 2022 Event Part I guide

The spooky tradition continues in Pokémon GO! 2022’s Halloween event is here and it’s split into two waves. Halloween 2022 Event Part I starts this week and is ready to dish out twice the Candy, as well as bring Mega Banette and Shiny Noibat into Pokémon GO for the first time. There are plenty of Timed, Field, and Special Research tasks being issued too along with some Halloween-themed Avatar duds.

Pokémon GO’s Season of Light – Halloween 2022 Event Part I

Begins: Thursday, October 20th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Thursday, October 27th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.

 

Pokémon debuts – Mega Banette and Shiny Noibat

 

 

The first part of this year’s Halloween event doesn’t feature any Costumed Pokémon, but instead brings Mega Banette to Mega Raids for the first time. Not only that, by Noibat’s Shiny version will be available for the first time in Pokémon GO too! Mega Banette can only be found in Mega Raids, whereas Noibat can be found in the wild and via 7 km Eggs. Noibat’s Shiny rates are increased via Eggs compared to wild encounters.

 

Event Bonuses

• 2× Candy for catching Pokémon
• 2× Candy for hatching Pokémon
• 2× Candy for transferring Pokémon
• Trainers level 31 and above will receive one guaranteed Candy XL when walking with their buddy
• PokéStops and Gyms will be decorated with Halloween-themed decor
• A remix of the Lavender Town music will play nightly during the event (You can listen to the remix via the official Pokémon GO YouTube channel)

 

If the Halloween Timed Research (Ticket 2, costs US$5) is purchased, the following bonuses will be in effect instead:

• 3× Candy for catching Pokémon
• 3× Candy for hatching Pokémon
• 3× Candy for transferring Pokémon
• Trainers level 31 and above will receive two guaranteed Candy XL when walking with their buddy

 

Event Boxes

• Creepy Crate (425 PokéCoins): 1 Super Incubator and 2 Egg Incubators.
• Pumpkin Pack (1,200 PokéCoins): 4 Super Incubators, 6 Egg Incubators, 1 Incense, and 1 Lure Module.
• Boo Bundle (2,000 PokéCoins): 8 Super Incubators, 8 Egg Incubators, 20 Ultra Balls, and 3 Remote Raid Passes.

 

Wild Encounters

• The following Pokémon will be appearing in the wild: Zubat*, Gastly*, Haunter, Spinarak*, Murkrow*, Misdreavus*, Sableye*, Shuppet*, Dusclops, Absol*, Drifloon*, Yamask*, Golett, Phatump, and Pumpkaboo.

Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:

• One-Star Raids: Sableye*, Purrloin, Yamask*, Galarian Yamask*, and Phantump.
• Three-Star Raids: Gengar*, Umbreon, Drifblim, and Drapion.
• Five-Star Raids: Giratina (Altered Forme)* (See Additional Notes).
• Mega Raids: Mega Banette* (See Additional Notes).

 

Additional Notes:

• Pokémon marked with an * means that “If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!”
• Giratina (Altered Forme)* caught during the event (and its Origin Forme until Tuesday, November 1st, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time) will know the attack Shadow Force.
• Mega Banette* will be available after the event (in Raids), until Tuesday, November 8th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.

 

Eggs

The following Pokémon will be hatching from Eggs obtained during the event:

• 7 km Eggs:
  • 1-Egg Rarity: Yamask*, Galarian Yamask*, Phatump, Golett, and Noibat* (See Additional Notes).

• Pokémon marked with an * means that “If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!”
• According to Niantic, “Noibat hatched from these Eggs will also have a greater chance of being Shiny than Noibat found in the wild.”

 

Field Research Tasks

New event-exclusive Field Research Tasks will be available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Shuppet*, Duskull*, Yamask*, Galarian Yamask*, and Phantump. Some tasks will also reward Trainers with Gengar or Absol Mega Energy. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active. A complete list of tasks and associated rewards will be added here once the event is live.

 

• Task: Catch 5 Ghost-type Pokémon
  • Reward: Shuppet* OR Duskull* Encounter
• Task: Catch 10 Ghost-type Pokémon
  • Reward: Yamask* Encounter
• Task: Catch 25 Ghost-type Pokémon
  • Reward: Galarian Yamask* Encounter
• Task: Walk 5 km
  • Reward: Phantump Encounter
• Task: Spin 5 PokéStops or Gyms
  • Reward: 20 Gengar Mega Energy
• Task: Spin 10 PokéStops or Gyms
  • Reward: 20 Absol Mega Energy

Timed Research – Yamask and Halloween

A special, event-exclusive Timed Research will be available. There will be two Timed Research Stories and both require a paid ticket.

• Ticket 1 (Yamask Timed Research): For US$1 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency, plus any applicable taxes and fees), you can purchase a ticket that grants access to Timed Research featuring encounters with Yamask and Galarian Yamask.
• Ticket 2 (Halloween Timed Research): For US$5 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency, plus any applicable taxes and fees), you can purchase a ticket that grants access to Timed Research featuring increased Candy bonuses, additional Halloween-themed tasks, and an avatar pose.

 

The Avatar Pose (holding a Pumpkaboo lantern) that is one of the rewards for the $5 Ticket.

 

Also, please note the following:

• Trainers can purchase either one of these tickets, or both. Each ticket features unique Timed Research tasks.
• IMPORTANT: Please note that Timed Research will expire. The tasks associated with Timed Research must be completed and their rewards must be claimed before Tuesday, November 1st, 2022, at 10 a.m. your local time.
• Trainers will be able to purchase and gift tickets to any of their Pokémon GO friends whom they have achieved a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with. Please note that purchases—including those made for other Trainers—are non-refundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service). Tickets cannot be purchased with PokéCoins.

Special Research – Mysterious Masks

There will also be a Special Research Story distributed during the event. According to Niantic, “You can assist Professor Willow and Rhi in Halloween-themed Special Research! Along the way, you’ll learn more about Yamask and Galarian Yamask. Also, for the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to encounter Shiny Galarian Yamask—if you’re lucky!” The Special Research – its tasks and rewards – will be added here once the event is live.

Avatar Items

The previously released Spooky Pose is undergoing an update. With it equipped, Trainers will shamble forward. In addition to the update, new Halloween-themed Avatar Items will be added. These include Dusclops Costume, Dusclops Headwrap, and Zubat Headband. You can purchase these from Pokémon GO’s in-game shop during the event.
