This Season’s GO Battle League event in Pokémon GO isn’t just a day, but a complete weekend. The typical GO Battle League Day/Weekend perks are in place, as Trainers will get the daily battle limit raised to 100 matches and get Stardust bonuses too. Pokémon GO’s Season of Hidden Gems – GO Battle Weekend: Clay
Begins: Saturday, July 1st, 2023 at 12 a.m. your local time.
Ends: Sunday, July 2nd, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. your local time.
Event Bonuses
- 4× Stardust from win rewards.
- (This does not include the end-of-set rewards and will not stack with the 3× Stardust bonus from Master League rotation weeks.)
- The maximum number of sets you can play per day will be increased from five to 20—for a total of 100 battles—from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. your local time each day.
- Free battle-themed Timed Research will be available. Rewards include the Clay-Style Hat.
- Paid battle-themed Timed Research will be available.
- Tasks will include battling in the GO Battle League 50 times and other battle-themed tasks.
- The research will award 30,000 Stardust, one Star Piece, three Rare Candies, and three Rare Candy XL for Trainers level 31 and up.
- This Timed Research will be available for US$1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency).
- IMPORTANT: Please note that Timed Research expires. To receive the rewards, the tasks associated with this Timed Research must be completed and the rewards claimed before Sunday, July 2nd, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. your local time.

Reward changes during GO Battle Weekend: Clay
During GO Battle Weekend: Clay, the following changes will be made to the GO Battle League premium track.
- Guaranteed Rare Candy XL for Trainers level 31 and up for their second win in a set.
- Guaranteed Rare Candy for Trainers level 30 and below for their second win in a set.
- Increased Stardust rewards compared to the basic reward track.
- Order of premium track rewards will be rearranged.
Timed Research – Free and Paid
For this event, there will be two Timed Researches made available. One is free for all Trainers that log into Pokémon GO during the event and the other is available with the purchase of a paid ticket. Regardless of which ones Trainers will want to complete, they must be finished by Sunday, July 2nd, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. your local time.
Free Timed Research – GO Battle Day
A special free Timed Research will be available and its tasks will focus on battling. Trainers who complete the research can look forward to the following rewards: an Avatar Item based on Clay’s hat (from Pokémon Black and White) and more. Niantic does note that Trainers who already own Clay-Style Hat, an avatar item distributed at Rank 20 (Ace Rank), will not receive another one.
Note: Despite the event being called GO Battle Weekend, the Timed Research is called GO Battle Day. This may change as the event rolls out across the world.
GO Battle Day
- Task: Battle in the GO Battle League 5 times
- Reward: 7,500 XP
- Task: Battle in the GO Battle League 10 times
- Reward: 7,500 XP
- Task: Use 10 Super Effective Charged Attacks
- Reward: 7,500 XP
- Task: Power up Pokémon 10 times
- Reward: 7,500 XP
- Completion Reward: 3 Rare Candies, 1 Elite Charged TM, and Clay-Style Hat (Avatar Item).
Paid Timed Research Ticket – GO Battle Weekend: Clay
During the GO Battle Weekend: Clay event, Trainers can purchase a ticket to access an event-themed Timed Research. For US $0.99 OR US$1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll get the event-exclusive Timed Research which rewards Trainers with the following items (if tasks are completed within the time limit): 30,000 Stardust, 1 Star Piece, 3 Rare Candies, and 3 Rare Candy XL for Trainers level 31 and up.
Sales for this Timed Research will go live on Saturday, July 1st, 2023 at 12 a.m. your local time (and sales will end on Sunday, July 2nd, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. your local time). According to Niantic, “[t]ickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service).” Tickets can also be gifted to Trainers you’re friends with provided that you have a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with them. This can be done via the in-game shop and by selecting the “Gift” button instead of the “Buy” button. Tickets purchased for friends are nonrefundable as well.
Please keep in mind that Timed Research quests have deadlines. Trainers must complete this Timed Research by Sunday, July 2nd, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. your local time.

GO Battle Day
- Task: Battle in the GO Battle League 10 times
- Reward: 6,000 Stardust
- Task: Battle in the GO Battle League 25 times
- Reward: 6,000 Stardust
- Task: Battle in the GO Battle League 50 times
- Reward: 6,000 Stardust
- Task: Use 15 Super Effective Charged Attacks
- Reward: 6,000 Stardust
- Task: Power up Pokémon 10 times
- Reward: 6,000 Stardust
- Completion Reward: 3 Rare Candy XL (if level 31 and up), 3 Rare Candies, and 1 Star Piece
Active Leagues
The following leagues will be active:
- Master League Premier
- No CP Limit.
- Legendary Pokémon, Mythical Pokémon, and Ultra Beasts are not eligible.
- Single-type Cup: Great League Edition
- Pokémon must be at or below 1,500 CP to enter.
- Only Pokémon with one type are eligible.
- i.e.: Wobbuffet is allowed as they are a Psychic-type Pokémon. Swampert is not allowed because they are a Water- and Ground-type Pokémon.
- The following Pokémon will not be allowed: Cresselia and Deoxys (Defense Forme).
Reward changes after GO Battle Weekend: Clay
After the conclusion of GO Battle Weekend: Clay, several changes will be made to the GO Battle League for the remainder of the Season:
- All rewards from the premium track will be adjusted to be in the same reward order as the basic reward track but in increased amounts.
- Trainers level 31 and up will have the chance to receive a Rare Candy XL as an item reward after their second win in a set.
