Adventure Week is back in 2023 and it’s showcasing some familiar faces! Yes, Rock-type and Fossil Pokémon are in the spotlight again, but last year’s debuts (Tyrunt and Amaura) are back and getting the Shiny version debut treatment. That’s not the only new addition here, as Mega Tyranitar will be available in Mega Raids (and if you collect enough Tyranitar Mega Energy, you’ll have your own to battle with).

Now, check out what’s happening during this year’s Adventure Week event with our guide below:

Pokémon GO’s Season of Hidden Gems – Adventure Week

Begins: Thursday, July 27th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023 at 8 p.m. your local time.

Pokémon debuts – Shiny Tyrunt, Shiny Amaura, and Mega Tyranitar

Adventure Week returns this year and two of the notable debuts are a callback to Adventure Week 2022’s debuts (Tyrunt* and Amaura*). The third is brand new-new and adds another Pokémon to the Mega Evolve Pokédex.

  • Shiny Tyrunt: This is the first event where Shiny Tyrunt can be captured in the wild, hatched from Eggs, or found in catch reward encounters. During the event, the chances of hatching a Shiny Tyrunt from 7 km Eggs (obtained during the event) will be greater than finding a Shiny Tyrunt in the wild!
  • Shiny Amaura: This is the first event where Shiny Amaura can be captured in the wild, hatched from Eggs, or found in catch reward encounters. During the event, the chances of hatching a Shiny Amaura from 7 km Eggs (obtained during the event) will be greater than finding a Shiny Amaura in the wild!
  • Mega Tyranitar: You’ll find Mega Tyranitar* only in Mega Raids just prior to the start of Adventure Week (and available for two days afterward). To have your own Mega Tyranitar*, you’ll need to collect 200 Tyranitar Mega Energy (earned from successful battles against Mega Tyranitar in Mega Raids) and a Tyranitar that you want to Mega Evolve.

Event Bonuses

  • 2× XP for spinning PokéStops
  • 5× XP for spinning a PokéStop for the first time
  • 1/2 Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed into Incubators during the event
