The Psychic Spectacular event returns in 2023 and during Pokémon GO’s Season of Adventures Abound. You won’t find any new Pokémon hailing from Paldea during this event, but Shiny Solosis will be available for the first time. Plus, for any Unown collectors, a few more will be available in One-Star Raids. Other than that, Trainers can expect to find a plethora of Psychic-type Pokémon in the wild, via Raids, hatching event Eggs, and more. Pokémon GO’s Season of Adventures Abound – Psychic Spectacular

Begins: Wednesday, September 20th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Sunday, September 24th, 2023 at 8 p.m. your local time.

 

Pokémon debuts – Shiny Solosis and Shiny Genesect (Burn Drive)

 

 

There are two notable debuts that will be active during this event – Shiny Solosis and Shiny Genesect (Burn Drive).

  • Shiny Solosis: At the start of the Psychic Spectacular event, the possibility of encountering a Shiny Solosis will be live. If Trainers are lucky, they might encounter a Shiny Solosis via Solosis encounters in the wild, hatching 7 km Eggs obtained during this event, reward encounters from select Field Research tasks, and reward encounters from the event exclusive Timed Research.
  • Shiny Genesect (Burn Drive): Debuting in Five-Star Raids prior to the start of the Psychic Spectacular event, Trainers can find Genesect (Burn Drive) in Five-STar Raids. If they’re successful in defeating Genesect (Burn Drive), they might encounter a shiny one during the catch reward encounter. Just be aware that Genesect (Burn Drive) will be available in Five-Star Raids until Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
    • Note: Raikou*, Entei*, and Suicune* will replace them for the remainder of the event and until Friday, October 6th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.

 

One other notable mention is that Unown P, Unown S, and Unown I (spelling out PSI, an alternative spelling of PSY) will be appearing in One-Star Raids.

 

Event Bonuses

  • Increased XP for successfully catching Pokémon with Curveball Throws.

 

Also, the September 2023 Community Day featuring Grubbin event will be taking place during this event. Therefore, the following bonuses may be active on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. your local time (two bonuses will be available until 10 p.m. your local time):

  • 3× XP for catching Pokémon
  • 2× Candy for catching Pokémon
  • 2× chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive XL Candy from catching Pokemon
  • Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours
  • Incense activated during the event will last for three hours (Daily Adventure Incense excluded)
  • Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise! (Grubbin photobomb spawn. Can be repeated up to 5 times.)
  • Trades made will require 50% less Stardust (active from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. your local time)
  • One additional Special Trade can be made for a maximum of two for the day (active from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. your local time)

 

Event Boxes

If any special event boxes or bundles are released during the event, they’ll be listed here once the event is live.

 

Wild Encounters

  • The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Abra*, Slowpoke*, Drowzee*, Exeggcute*, Girafarig*, Ralts*, Meditite*, Spoink*, Gothita*, Solosis*, and Elgyem*.
    • If you’re lucky, you might encounter the following Pokémon: Galarian Ponyta*, Galarian Slowpoke*, and Bronzor*.

Eggs

The following Pokémon will be hatching from Eggs that are obtained during the event:

  • 7 km Eggs
    • 1-Egg Rarity: Smoochum*, Wynaut*, Chingling, and Solosis*.

Raids

Standard and Shadow Raids will be active during the event.

 

Standard Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:

  • One-Star Raids: Unown P, Unown S, Unown I, and Espurr*.
  • Three-Star Raids: Alolan Raichu*, Galarian Mr. Mime*, and Hisuian Braviary*.
  • Five-Star Raids: Genesect (Burn Drive)*, Raikou*, Entei*, and Suicune* (See Additional Notes).
  • Mega Raids: Mega Gardevoir* (See Additional Notes).

 

Shadow Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:

  • One-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Meowth*, Shadow Machop*, Shadow Wooper, and Shadow Pineco*.
  • Three-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Magmar, Shadow Electabuzz, and Shadow Gligar*.
  • Five-Star Shadow Raids: Shadow Zapdos* (See Additional Notes).

  • Standard Raids:
    • Genesect (Burn Drive)* will be available until Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.

      • And all three will be available in Five-Star Raids after the event, until Friday, October 6th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
    • Mega Gardevoir* will be available after the event (in Mega Raids), until Friday, October 6th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
  • Shadow Raids:
    • One- and Three-Star Shadow Raids will be available daily.
    • Five-Star Shadow Raids will be available on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), unless otherwise stated by Niantic.

 

Timed Research – Psychic Spectacular

A Timed Research quest called Psychic Spectacular will be active during the event. All catch encounter rewards will be Solosis.

  • Task: Make 5 Curveball Throws
    • Reward: Solosis* Encounter
  • Task: Make 10 Curveball Throws
    • Reward: Solosis* Encounter
  • Task: Make 15 Curveball Throws

    • Reward: Solosis* Encounter
  • Task: Make 25 Curveball Throws
    • Reward: Solosis* Encounter
  • Task: Make 30 Curveball Throws

  • Task: Make 42 Curveball Throws

Field Research Tasks

There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Kadabra, Galarian Slowpoke*, Wobbuffet*, Metang, Solosis*, and Inkay*. Alakazam, Slowbro, Gardevoir, and Medicham Mega Energy will also be rewarded when completing specific tasks. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

PokéStop Showcase

During the event, PokéStop Showcases will be active. The theme of these contests is to submit the biggest Spoink.

 

Collection Challenge – Marvelous Minds Challenges: Medicham, Gardevoir, Slowbro, and Alakazam

Special, event-exclusive Collection Challenges will be available. According to Niantic, this Collection Challenge will reward Trainers with Mega Energy for certain Psychic-type Pokémon, Stardust, XP, and an addition to the Elite Collector medal. A complete list of what Pokémon must be caught/traded/evolved and the associated rewards will be added here once the event is live.

 

Marvelous Minds Challenge: Medicham

  • Catch: Meditite.
  • Evolve: Meditite into Medicham.
  • Completion Rewards: 1,000 Stardust, 1,000 XP, and 100 Medicham Mega Energy.

 

Marvelous Minds Challenge: Gardevoir

  • Catch: Ralts.
  • Evolve: Ralts into Kirlia and Kirlia into Gardevoir.
  • Completion Rewards: 1,000 Stardust, 1,000 XP, and 100 Gardevoir Mega Energy.

 

Marvelous Minds Challenge: Slowbro

  • Catch: Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke.
  • Evolve: Slowpoke into Slowbro.
  • Completion Rewards: 1,000 Stardust, 1,000 XP, and 100 Slowbro Mega Energy.

 

Marvelous Minds Challenge: Alakazam

  • Catch: Abra.
  • Evolve: Abra into Kadabra and Kadabra into Alakazam.
  • Completion Rewards: 1,000 Stardust, 1,000 XP, and 100 Alakazam Mega Energy.
