Featured Attacks for Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem

Reshiram and Zekrom will known specific Charged Attacks when caught in Five-Star Raids between during the event. As for Kyurem, their Charged Attack, Glaciate, is not guaranteed, but will be available as a possible known Charged Attack.

  • Reshiram will know Fusion Flare (Charged Attack).
  • Zekrom will know Fusion Bolt (Charged Attack).
  • Kyurem may know Glaciate (Charged Attack).

Pokémon Fusion

Pokémon fusion is the ability to combine certain Pokémon into a single, more powerful form with an altered appearance. Reshiram and Zekrom can utilize this mechanic with Kyurem, provided certain conditions are met.

Black Kyurem and White Kyurem

With enough Fusion Energy, Kyurem can be fused with either Zekrom to become Black Kyurem or Reshiram to become White Kyurem.

  • Trainers can fuse Kyurem and Zekrom using 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Zekrom Candy.
  • Trainers can fuse Kyurem and Reshiram using 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy.

Fused Kyurem will remain in this form until their Trainer separates them. Separating will not cost any Fusion Energy or Pokémon Candy. Black Kyurem and White Kyurem cannot be traded, transferred to the professor, or transferred to Pokémon HOME.

Volt Fusion Energy and Blaze Fusion Energy

Volt Fusion Energy and Blaze Fusion Energy are very rare sources of power that can be used to fuse Kyurem into more formidable forms.

Trainers can earn Volt Fusion Energy or Blaze Fusion Energy by defeating Black Kyurem or White Kyurem in Raid Battles.

Adventure Effect: Freeze Shock

After fusing Zekrom with a Kyurem that knows Glaciate (Charged Attack), Glaciate will turn into the Freeze Shock (Charged Attack). Freeze Shock will change back to Glaciate when Zekrom is separated from Kyurem.

Trainers can use 5,000 Stardust and 5 Kyurem Candy to activate Freeze Shock’s Adventure Effect, which casts electrically charged ice for 10 minutes. During this time, the Pokémon you encounter won’t be able to move, making them easier to catch, including with connected accessory devices.

You can extend the timer for Freeze Shock’s Adventure Effect in increments of 10 minutes by using more Stardust and Kyurem Candy. The timer can be extended up to two hours each time you tap Use, and you can tap Use again to add additional time—up to 24 hours total!

Freeze Shock cannot be active at the same time as another Adventure Effect.

Note: At this time, Black Kyurem will be unable to learn Freeze Shock via Charged TM or Elite Charged TM.

Adventure Effect: Ice Burn

After fusing Reshiram with a Kyurem that knows the Glaciate (Charged Attack), Glaciate will turn into the Ice Burn (Charged Attack). Ice Burn will change back to Glaciate when Reshiram is separated from Kyurem.

Trainers can use 5,000 Stardust and 5 Kyurem Candy to activate Ice Burn’s Adventure Effect, which activates a chilling energy for 10 minutes. During this time, the target ring in Pokémon encounters will move more slowly, making it easier to land Excellent Throws. This also makes Pokémon much easier to catch, including with connected accessory devices.

You can extend the timer for Ice Burn’s Adventure Effect in increments of 10 minutes by using more Stardust and Kyurem Candy. The timer can be extended up to two hours each time you tap Use, and you can tap Use again to add additional time—up to 24 hours total!

Ice Burn cannot be active at the same time as another Adventure Effect.

Note: At this time, White Kyurem will be unable to learn Ice Burn via Charged TM or Elite Charged TM.

PokéStop Showcase

During the event, PokéStop Showcases will be active. The theme of these contests is to submit the biggest Pokémon being requested.

  • Saturday, January 10th, 2026 at 10 a.m. to Sunday, January 11th, 2026 at 8 p.m. your local time: Dhelmise and Klawf
