The Let’s GO! event is still on and Team GO Rocket has decided to crash the event in typical Team GO Rocket fashion. That means while the Let’s GO! event and all its bonuses are still happening, more Team GO Rocket Grunts will staking out PokéStops and flying in balloons more often. Team GO Rocket Leaders and the boss himself (Giovanni) will be ready for battle too and they’ll have some new Shadow Pokémon on their teams. For Shadow Pokémon collectors, now is the time to add Shadow Regice to your team, but only if you can defeat Giovanni first.

Pokémon GO’s Season of Rising Heroes – Team GO Rocket takeover
Begins: Saturday, March 25th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
Ends: Wednesday, March 29th, 2023 at 8 p.m. your local time.
Pokémon debuts – Shadow Regice and more Shadow Pokémon
Giovanni and his Team GO Rocket crew are crashing the Let’s GO! event with some new Shadow Pokémon. This time Giovanni has Shadow Regice on his team and there will be more Shadow Pokémon added to the battle pool of Team GO Rocket Grunts and Leaders – Shadow Alolan Grimer, Shadow Phanpy, Shadow Treecko, Shadow Torchic, and Shadow Drifloon.
Event Bonuses
- Team GO Rocket will appear more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons.
- You can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration.
The following bonuses will also be active since this event takes place at the same time as the Let’s GO! event:
- 2× Candy for transferring Pokémon.
- Increased chance of finding Ditto disguised as other Pokémon.
- Reduced waiting time for opening the Mystery Box.
- Increased chance of finding XXS and XXL Meltan.
And the following bonuses will be activated on Saturday, March 25th, 2023 from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. your local time as part of the GO Battle Day: Palmer event:
- 4× Stardust from win rewards. (This does not include the end-of-set rewards and will not stack with the 3× Stardust bonus from Master League rotation weeks.)
- The maximum number of sets you can play per day will be increased from five to 20—for a total of 100 battles—from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. local time.

Shadow Pokémon
Team GO Rocket Grunts, Team GO Rocket Leaders (Cliff, Arlo, and Sierra), and Team GO Rocket Boss Giovanni will be battling with new Shadow Pokémon.
- The following Shadow Pokémon are new additions to the game: Shadow Alolan Grimer, Shadow Phanpy, Shadow Treecko, Shadow Torchic, and Shadow Drifloon.
- Thus, the following Shadow Pokémon are new and can be obtained via evolving a Shadow Pokémon rescued from Team GO Rocket: Shadow Donphan, Shadow Grovyle, Shadow Sceptile, and Shadow Drifblim.
- Note: Torchic’s evolved forms (Combusken and Blaziken) are unconfirmed.
- Thus, the following Shadow Pokémon are new and can be obtained via evolving a Shadow Pokémon rescued from Team GO Rocket: Shadow Donphan, Shadow Grovyle, Shadow Sceptile, and Shadow Drifblim.

Eggs
The following Pokémon will be hatching from Eggs that are obtained from Team GO Rocket Leaders (Cliff, Arlo, and Sierra):
- 12 km Eggs
- 1-Egg Rarity: Larvitar*, Scraggy, Pawniard*, and Vullaby*.
- 2-Egg Rarity: Sandile and Pancham.
- 3-Egg Rarity: Absol*, Skorupi*, Deino*, Skrelp, and Salandit.

Field Research Tasks
There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following: a Mysterious Component. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

Special Research – From the Shadows and Let’s GO!
There will be two Special Research Stories available during the event – a Team GO Rocket takeover-focused Special Research and the earlier released Let’s GO Special Research.
From the Shadows
At the start of the Team GO Rocket takeover event, Trainers will get a Special Research Story “From the Shadows”. Available to be claimed in-game until Thursday, June 1st, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time, this Special Research will focus on battling Team GO Rocket – including facing Giovanni to rescue Shadow Regice.
It is unclear if previous Team GO Rocket Special Research from previous seasons will conflict with the distribution of this Special Research.

Let’s GO!
Available at the start of the Let’s GO! event, a free Special Research Story called Let’s GO! was issued to all Trainers who logged into Pokémon GO (and can be claimed in-game until Thursday, June 1st, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.). Initially, this Special Research was referred to as “An Everyday Hero” in the official Pokémon GO blog post and was marketed as a season-long Special Research Story. Depending on how long/in-depth this Special Research is, the complete list of tasks and rewards may be moved to the Pokémon GO Season of Rising Heroes guide hub page.
Note: It has been confirmed that the remaining steps were not released at the start of the Team GO Rocket takeover event.
