The Inkay Limited Research Day was just a warmup for Pokémon GO’s Season of Light! The first nearly week-long is here and it’s all about Psychic-type Pokémon. This year’s Psychic Spectacular will see a new Mega Pokémon debut, a new shiny added to Pokémon GO, all four forms of Deoxys in Raids (along with a special Raid Day), and more.

Pokémon GO’s Season of Light – Psychic Spectacular

Begins: Tuesday, September 6th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Monday, September 12th, 2022 at 8 p.m. your local time.

 

Pokémon debuts – Mega Alakazam and Shiny Elgyem

 

 

For this year’s Psychic Spectacular, Mega Alakazam will be debuting in Mega Raids! Successfully defeat Mega Alakazam and you’ll earn Alakazam Mega Energy and get a catch encounter with Alakazam* who will also know the Charged Attack Psychic. Make sure to collect 200 Alakazam Mega Energy so you can Mega Evolve your Alakazam too.

That’s not the only debut happening for this event. Shiny Hunters rejoice, as Shiny Elgyem* is here too! Look out for Elgyem* in Wild Encounters and Field Research task reward encounters, and if you’re lucky, you might just catch a Shiny one. Gather enough Elgyem Candies and you can evolve them into a Shiny Beheeyem too!

For Unown Collectors, you can find Unown E, Unown P, and Unown S in Raids.

Event Bonuses

Wild Encounters

  • The following Pokémon will be appearing in the wild: Abra*, Slowpoke*, Drowzee*, Natu*, Ralts*, Spoink*, Munna*, Woobat*, Gothita, Solosis, and Elgyem*.
    • If you’re lucky, you might encounter the following Pokémon: Kadabra and Kirlia.

Eggs

The following Pokémon will be hatching from Eggs obtained during the event:

  • 7 km Eggs: 
    • 1-Egg Rarity: Smoochum*, Wynaut*, and Chingling.

Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:

  • One-Star Raids: Unown E, Unown P, Unown S, and Espurr*.
  • Three-Star Raids: Alolan Raichu*, Wobbuffet*, Giragarig*, and Oranguru.
  • Five-Star Raids: Deoxys (Normal Forme)*, Deoxys (Attack Forme)*, Deoxys (Defense Forme)*, and Deoxys (Speed Forme)*.
  • Mega Raids: Mega Alakazam*.

Field Research Tasks

New event-exclusive Field Research Tasks will be available and the rewards include encounters with Baltoy*, Chimecho*, Elgyem*, and Hypno. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active. A full list of tasks and their associated rewards will be added here once the event is live.

  • Task: Make 5 Curveball Throws
    • Reward: Elgyem* Encounter
  • Task: Make 5 Curveball Throws in a row
    • Reward: Chimecho* Encounter
  • Task: Spin 5 PokéStops or Gyms
    • Reward: Baltoy* Encounter
  • Task: Spin 15 PokéStops or Gyms
    • Reward: Hypno Encounter

Timed Research

A special, event-exclusive Timed Research will be available. It’ll focus on perfecting your Curveball Throws and reward you will multiple encounters with Elgyem*. A full list of tasks and their rewards will be added here once the event is live (all Elgyem Encounters have the chance for Elgyem to be shiny).

Featured Attack

During the event, if you evolve Kadabra into Alakazam then you’ll have an Alakazam that will know the Charged Attack Psychic. This also applies to any Alakazam caught in Raids (encounter via Mega Alakazam Raid).

The stats for Psychic (Charged Attack) are as follows:

  • Trainer Battles: 90 power and a chance to lower the opposing Pokémon’s Defense
  • Gyms and Raids: 90 power

 

Deoxys Raid Day

Begins: Sunday, September 11th, 2022 at 2 p.m. your local time

Ends: Sunday, September 11th, 2022 at 5 p.m. your local time

GO Battle League – Psychic Cup

Perfect your best Psychic-type only team and battle it out in the GO Battle League! During this event, you can partake in the Psychic Cup and earn rewards and up your battle rank by winning matches.

 

Rules

  • Pokémon must be at or below 1,500 CP to enter.
  • Only Psychic-type Pokémon will be eligible.
  • The following Pokémon will be allowed: Mew.
