The Season of Alola is coming to an end! To close out the season-long celebration, Niantic is saying Alola to the Alola region with one big event aptly called Alola to Alola. All four guardian deities will be back in Raids, Pokémon hailing from the Alola region that were introduced to Pokémon GO will be appearing in the wild and via Eggs, and more! Plus, Trainers who have completed the four, season exclusive Special Research Stories will get the bonus Special Research Story! Get all the details for this event with our guide below.

 

 

Pokémon GO’s Season of Alola – Alola to Alola

Begins: Wednesday, May 25th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Tuesday, May 31st, 2022 at 8 p.m. your local time.

 

Event Bonuses

  • 2× Stardust from opening Gifts

 

Wild Encounters

  • The following Pokémon will be appearing in the wild: Alolan Rattata*, Cubone*, Rowlet, Litten, Popplio, Pikipek, and Yungoos*.
    • If you’re lucky, you might encounter the following Pokémon: Alolan Meowth* and Alolan Exeggutor*.

Eggs

The following Pokémon will be hatching from Eggs.

  • 7 km Eggs
    • 1-Egg Rarity: Alolan Rattata*, Dewpider, Fomantis, and Oranguru.
    • 2-Egg Rarity: Alolan Meowth* and Alolan Grimer*.
    • 3-Egg Rarity: Alolan Sandshrew*, Alolan Vulpix*, Alolan Diglett*, and Stufful*.

Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:

  • One-Star Raids: Alolan Rattata*, Alolan Geodude*, Alolan Diglett*, Alolan Grimer*, and Rockruff*.
  • Three-Star Raids: Alolan Raichu*, Alolan Exeggutor*, and Alolan Marowak*.
  • Five-Star Raids: Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, and Tapu Fini.

Collection Challenge

An Alolan-themed Collection Challenge will be active during this event! Trainers who complete the Collection Challenge will be rewarded with 15,000 XP, 15 Ultra Balls, and an encounter with Rockruff. You’ll need to either catch or evolve the following Pokémon to get the reward:

  • Catch: Cubone and Alolan Rattata.
  • Evolve: Yungoos into Gumshoos, Pikipek into Trumbeak, Trumbeak into Toucannon, Rowlet into Dartrix, Litten into Torracat, and Popplio into Brionne.

 

Special Research – Alola to Alola

This is it! Trainers who have completed the four previous Season of Alola Special Research Stories will get the bonus, end of the Season Special Research Story for free (during this event)! That’s not all, as this Special Research splits off into four different branching paths – each one focused on the different islands of the Alola region. ‘

To get this bonus Special Research, you’ll need to either complete the previous four Special Research Stories (A Melemele Adventure, An Akala Adventure, An Ula’ula Adventure, and A Poni Adventure) by Wednesday, June 1st, 2022 at 9:59 a.m. your local time OR purchase the bonus Special Research Story for US$4.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). Plus, Trainers that get the bonus Special Research Story for free can buy the Special Research story as well, allowing them to complete a different branching path and get additional rewards.

The Special Research and its four branching paths will be added to the guide and on our dedicated guide page for the entire Season of Alola Special Research quest line too.

NOTE: As of Tuesday, May 24th, 2022 at 11 p.m. PT, the bonus Special Research Story ticket has been removed from the in-game shop due to issues. Niantic made this announcement via the Niantic Support Twitter account and will update Trainers when the ticket has been made available again.

Evolution Bonus – Evolve Cubone into Alolan Marowak

During the event, Trainers that evolve Cubone into Alolan Marowak will have an Alolan Marowak that knows Shadow Bone (Charged Attack). The stats for Shadow Bone are the following:

  • Trainer Battles: 75 power
  • Gyms and raids: 80 power

 

Field Research Tasks

New event-exclusive Field Research Tasks will be available and the rewards include encounters with Rowlet, Litten, Popplio, Pikipek, and Yungoos*. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

  • Task: Power up Pokémon 7 times.
    • Reward: Rowlet Encounter OR Litten Encounter OR Popplio Encounter.
  • Task: Wak 1 km.
    • Reward: Pikipek Encounter OR Yungoss* Encounter.
  • Task: Use 7 Berries to catch Pokémon
    • Reward: 7 Ultra Balls
  • Task: Send 3 Gifts to Friends
    • Reward: 5 Poké Balls
  • Task: Send 3 Gifts and add a Sticker to each
    • Reward: 3 Pinap Berries

 

Avatar Items

Some brand new avatar items for Trainers will debut during the event – the Rowlet Backpack, Litten Backpack, and Popplio Backpack. You can find the item via the in-game shop and they’ll be available after the event ends.
