Pokémon GO’s Season of Forever Forward’s Ozone Ascent event guide

Another chance to get Mega Rayquaza is happening during the Season of Forever Forward! While Mega Rayquaza won’t be appearing in Mega Raids, instead, Trainers will have access to a free Timed Research that include an encounter with Rayquaza, 400 Rayquaza Mega Energy, and the Meteorite (which is needed for Rayquaza to learn the Charged Attack Dragon Ascent). Plus, a paid Timed Research will also be made available with another chance at catching Rayquaza and earning another Meteorite.

Pokémon GO’s Season of Forever Forward – Ozone Ascent

Begins: Saturday, July 25th, 2026 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Sunday, July 26th, 2026 at 8 p.m. your local time.

 

Pokémon featured – Mega Rayquaza

 

 

To get Mega Rayquaza in Pokémon GO, you’ll need more than just 400 Rayquaza Mega Energy. In order to Mega Evolve any Rayquaza, they will need to know the Charged Attack Dragon Ascent. To learn this Charged Attack, Trainers will need to use a Meteorite. This item will be available during this event via the free Timed Research and Paid Timed Research. As well as an encounter with Rayquaza in each of the Timed Research quests.

And if Trainers reach specific ranks in the GO Pass and/or GO Pass Deluxe, then the following bonuses will also be active until Tuesday, August 4th, 2026 at 10 a.m. your local time:

• Tier 1 (Rank 1):
  • One additional Candy for trading Pokémon.
  • Trainers level 31 and above will receive one guaranteed Candy XL when trading Pokémon.
• Tier 2 (Rank 25): 
  • Open up to 40 Gifts per day.
  • Receive up to 125 Gifts per day from spinning PokéStop and Gym Photo Discs.
  • Hold up to 10 additional Gifts in your Item Bag.
• Tier 3 (Rank 50):
  • 2× Daily Adventure Incense duration.
• Tier 4 (Rank 75):
  • Increased Stardust and XP from hatching Eggs.

If GO Pass Deluxe is purchased, then the following bonuses will active when Rank 25 is reached instead, until Tuesday, August 4th, 2026 at 10 a.m. your local time:

• Tier 2 (Rank 25):
  • Open up to 50 Gifts per day.
  • Receive up to 150 Gifts per day from spinning PokéStop and Gym Photo Discs.

Timed Research – Ozone Ascent Timed Research

A free Timed Research quest called Ozone Ascent Timed Research will be active during the event. A complete list of tasks and the rewards will be shared here once the event is live.

 

• Task: Use 3 Super Effective Charged Attacks
  • Reward: 20 Poké Balls
• Task: Spin 10 PokéStops or Gyms
  • Reward: 3 Silver Pinap Berries
• Task: Catch 50 Pokémon
  • Reward: 200 Rayquaza Mega Energy
• Task: Win 2 Raids
  • Reward: Rayquaza* encounter
• Completion Rewards: 3,840 XP, 1 Meteorite, and 3,840 Stardust

Paid Timed Research – Celestial Scales Premium Timed Research

During the Ozone Ascent event, Trainers can purchase a ticket to access a Premium Timed Research for an additional encounter with Rayquaza, a Meteorite, and more. For US$4.99 OR US$5.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll get the following: 20 Poké Balls, 3 Silver Pinap Berries, 300 Rayquaza Mega Energy, 1 Rayquaza* encounter, 3,840 XP, 1 Meteorite, and 3,840 Stardust. Please be aware that this Timed Research will expire. You must claim all rewards from completed tasks prior to Sunday, July 26th, 2026 at 8 p.m. your local time.

According to the fine print, “[t]ickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service).” Tickets can also be gifted to Trainers you’re friends with provided that you have a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with them. This can be done via the in-game shop and by selecting the “Gift” button instead of the “Buy” button. Tickets purchased for friends are nonrefundable as well.

If the paid ticket is purchased via the Pokémon GO Web Store, then Trainers will also get 1 Premium Battle Pass and +60 Reward Points as a bonus.
