It’s time for Team GO Rocket’s quarterly event to happen in Pokémon GO. For this event, we’ll see a variety of new debuts – regular Pokémon (like Varoom) and Shadow Pokémon (like Shadow Kyogre and Shiny Shadow Ho-Oh). Team GO Rocket Grunts, Leaders, and Boss will also be changing up their Shadow Pokémon battling lineups. Pokémon GO’s Season of Timeless Travels – Taken Treasures
Begins: Saturday, January 27th, 2024 at 12 a.m. your local time.
Ends: Thursday, February 1st, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. your local time.
Pokémon debuts – Varoom, Revavroom, Shiny Shadow Ho-Oh, and more Shadow Pokémon
Varoom will be added to the 12 km Egg Pool at the start of this event. Trainers can evolve Varoom into Revavroom provided that they’ve hatched a Varoom and have 50 Varoom Candies.
The following Shadow Pokémon will debut during the event:
- Shadow Tentacool and Shadow Tentacruel
- Shiny Shadow Ho-Oh: Available only in Five-Star Shadow Raids from Saturday, January 27th, 2024 at 6 a.m. to Sunday, January 28th, 2024 at 10 p.m. your local time.
- Shadow Corphish and Shadow Crawdaunt
- Shadow Feebas and Shadow Milotic
- Shadow Snorunt and Shadow Glalie
- Shadow Kyogre: Available via battling and defeating Team GO Rocket Boss Giovanni at the start of the event.
- Shadow Chimchar, Shadow Monferno, and Shadow Infernape
- Shadow Piplup, Shadow Prinplup, and Shadow Empoleon
- Shadow Croagunk and Shadow Toxicroak
- Shadow Froslass
- Shadow Dwebble and Shadow Crustle

Event Bonuses
- Team GO Rocket will appear more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons.
- You can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration.

Featured Attack for Thundurus (Therian Forme) and Landorus (Therian Forme)
Thundurus (Therian Forme) will know the attack Wildbolt Storm (Charged Attack) when caught from Five-Star Raids between Wednesday, January 17th, 2024, at 10 a.m. to Saturday, January 24th, 2024, at 10 a.m. your local time.
Wildbolt Storm’s (Charged Attack) stats are as follows:
- Trainer Battles: 60 power + decrease your opponent’s Attack stat
- Gyms and Raids: 140 power
Landorus (Therian Forme) will know the attack Sandsear (Charged Attack) when caught from Five-Star Raids between Saturday, January 24th, 2024, at 10 a.m. to Wednesday, January 31st, 2024, at 10 a.m. your local time.
Sandsear’s (Charged Attack) stats are as follows:
- Trainer Battles: 60 power + decrease your opponent’s Attack stat
- Gyms and Raids: 140 power
Field Research Tasks
There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Ekans*, Zubat*, Koffing*, Paldean Wooper*, Hisuian Qwilfish, Poochyena*, Sableye*, Croagunk*, Scraggy*, Mareanie, Bruxish, and Nymble. Mysterious Components, Charged TMs, and Fast TMs will also be rewarded when completing specific tasks. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

During the event, PokéStop Showcases will be active. The theme of these contests is to submit the biggest Scraggy, Pancham, or Varoom. These contests will end on Thursday, February 1st, 2024 at 8 p.m. your local time. More Pokémon may be featured in contests, we’re just waiting for confirmation.
Paid Ticket – Taken Treasures Timed Research
During the Taken Treasures, Trainers can purchase a ticket to access an event-themed Timed Research. For US$5.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll get the paid Timed Research which rewards Trainers with the following items (if tasks are completed within the time limit): Stardust, XP, 1 Incense, 1 Incubator, 3 Silver Pinap Berries, Poké Ball Throw Avatar Pose, and more.
Sales for this Timed Research will go live on Saturday, January 27th, 2024 at 12 a.m. your local time (and sales will end on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. your local time). According to Niantic, “[t]ickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service).” Tickets can also be gifted to Trainers you’re friends with provided that you have a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with them. This can be done via the in-game shop and by selecting the “Gift” button instead of the “Buy” button. Tickets purchased for friends are nonrefundable as well.
Please keep in mind that Timed Research quests have deadlines. Trainers must complete this Timed Research by Thursday, February 1st, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. your local time.
