The next Pokémon GO event during the Season of Mythical Wishes will be summoning Fairy- and Dragon-type Pokémon. Perfect for a fantasy and mystical theme, this event will feature the debut of Mega Salamence and Shiny Dedenne. Luckily, this time around, there’s no Timed or Special Research locked behind a paid ticket. Instead, enjoy a low-key event with a Collection Challenge, Field Research Tasks, and even some photobomb surprises.

Pokémon GO’s Season of Mythical Wishes – Twinkling Fantasy

Begins: Tuesday, January 10th, 2023 at 8 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Monday, January 16th, 2023 at 10 p.m. your local time.

 

Pokémon debuts – Mega Salamence and Shiny Dedenne

 

 

Trainers, your Mega Pokémon Pokédex can now add in Mega Salamence*. You’ll Mega Salamence* in Mega Raids during the event and afterwards (until Wednesday, January 18th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.) Just gather up a group of friends to defeat Mega Salamence and win. You’ll be rewarded with Salamence Mega Energy and a Salamence* catch encounter. Just remember you need to collect 200 Salamence Mega Energy in order to mega evolve your own Salamence. (You can earn 50 with the event’s Collection Challenge!)

In the shiny department, Dedenne* can now be shiny in-game. Luckily, Dedenne* will be appearing in the wild, via specific Field Research task(s), and in Three-Star Raids during this event. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to catch one! Good luck!

Event Bonuses

  • 2× XP for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws
  • Additional Candy for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws
  • Increased chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws
  • Take a few snapshots for a surprise! (Dratini or Jigglypuff Pokémon photobomb spawn. Can be repeated up to five times per day.)

 

Event Boxes

No new Event Boxes and Bundles will be available during the event. The following boxes will still be available:

  • Trainee Box (400 PokéCoins): 1 Premium Battle Pass, 1 Super Incubator, and 1 Egg Incubator.
  • Expert Box (900 PokéCoins): 10 Premium Battles Passes, 1 Star Piece, 1 Lure Module, and 1 Lucky Egg.
  • Explorer Box (1,850 PokéCoins): 10 Super Incubators, 10 Egg Incubators, and 5 Incense.

 

Wild Encounters

  • The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Clefairy*, Clefable*, Jigglypuff*, Dratini*, Togetic*, Marill*, Ralts*, Vibrava, Bagon*, Deino*, and Dedenne*.
    • If you’re lucky, you might encounter the following Pokémon: Goomy and Noibat*.

Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:

  • One-Star Raids: Jigglypuff*, Marill*, Axew*, and Deino*.
  • Three-Star Raids: Mawile*, Druddigon*, and Dedenne*.
  • Five-Star Raids: Reshiram* and Zekrom* (See Additional Notes).
  • Mega Raids: Mega Steelix* and Mega Salamence* (See Additional Notes).

 

Additional Notes:

  • Pokémon marked with an * means that “If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!”
  • Reshiram* (who will know Fusion Flare) will be available for the first two hours of the event, disappearing on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
  • Zekrom* will be available after the event (in Raids), until Wednesday, January 18th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
  • Mega Steelix* will be available for the first two hours of the event, disappearing on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.
  • Mega Salamence* will be available after the event (in Raids), until Wednesday, January 18th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.

 

Featured Attack for Zekrom

Zekrom will know the attack Fusion Bolt (Charged Attack) when caught from Five-Star Raids between Tuesday, January 10th, 2023, at 10 a.m. to Wednesday, January 18th, 2023, at 10 a.m. your local time.

Fusion Bolt’s (Charged Attack) stats are as follows:

  • Trainer Battles: 90 power
  • Gyms and Raids: 140 power

 

Collection Challenge – Twinkling Fantasy Collection Challenge

An event-themed Collection Challenge will be active during the event. Trainers who complete it will earn an additional medal to their Elite Collector medal, 50 Salamence Mega Energy, 1 Charged TM, and 1 Fast TM.

A complete list of what Pokémon will be needed to complete the challenge and how to obtain them (catching or evolving) will be added here once the event is live.

  • Catch: Ralts, Dratini, Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Marill, Bagon, Deino, Dedenne, Togetic, and Clefable.
    • Completion Reward: 50 Salamence Mega Energy, 1 Charged TM, and 1 Fast TM

 

Field Research Tasks

There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Clefairy*, Dratini*, Bagon*, Dedenne*, and Goomy. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

  • Task: Catch 5 Pokémon
    • Reward: Dedenne* Encounter
  • Task: Catch 30 Pokémon
    • Reward: Goomy Encounter
  • Task: Catch 5 Fairy-type Pokémon
    • Reward: Bagon* Encounter
  • Task: Make 3 Nice Throws
    • Reward: Dratini* Encounter
  • Task: Make 3 Great Throws
    • Reward: Clefairy* Encounter
  • Task: Win 3 Raids
    • Reward: Goomy Encounter
