Closing out April, Pokémon GO will have an event all about Steel-type Pokémon! And this will be the event where Team GO Rocket hits their usual “hijack an event” hijinks, so don’t be too shocked that midway through the Steeled Resolve event is taken over. For the first few days, however, Trainers can see out Orthworm as they debut in Pokémon GO, plus Shiny Meltan returns.
Now, check out what’s happening during the Steeled Resolve event with our guide below:
Pokémon GO’s Season of Memories in Motion – Steeled Resolve
Begins: Tuesday, April 28th, 2026 at 10 a.m. your local time.
Ends: Monday, May 4th, 2026 at 8 p.m. your local time.
Pokémon debuts – Orthworm + Shiny Meltan returns
Orthworm debuts in Pokémon GO! To caught Orthworm, you’ll need to seek out Three-Star Raids featuring Orthworm. And, if you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny one after defeating them in the Raid!
Also, Shiny Meltan is back for a limited time! While Meltan is accessible via the Mystery Box all year round, they’re shiny locked save for special events. During the Steeled Resolve event, Shiny Meltan will be available (if you’re lucky to encounter them when activating the Mystery Box). Plus, the cooldown time for the Mystery Box will be reduced. Based on previous events, the cooldown time may be reduced to 24 hours (or 48 hours) before you can open the Mystery Box again.
Event Bonuses
- Mystery Box wait time will be reduced during the event (24 or 48 hours)
- Shiny Meltan will be available during the event. If you’re lucky, you may encounter one when opening the Mystery Box!

- Team GO Rocket will appear more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons
- You can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Frustration (Charged Attack)
- Pokémon caught via One-Star and Three-Star Shadow Raids during the event will have a wider variance of Attack, Defense, and HP
- For the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to hatch Shiny Varoom from 12 km eggs—if you’re lucky!
Plus, the following Season of Memories in Motion bonuses will be in effect:

- Increased XP and Stardust for a seven-day Pokémon catch streak.
