The Season of Light has begun in Pokémon GO! This month, the Psychic Spectacular event from September 2021 returns. To get Trainers excited, a small, but very special Limited Research Day will be happening beforehand. Debuting last year’s Psychic Spectacular event, Inkay is here along with its shiny version for the first time!

This Limited Research event will be available for one day only. Technically, you’ll only be able to acquire the limited Field Research tasks during a short three-hour window. This goes for any bonuses and special Wild Encounters that will also be available. Get all the details with our guide below.

 

Pokémon GO’s Season of Light’s – Inkay Limited Research

Begins: Saturday, September 3rd, 2022 at 11 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Saturday, September 3rd, 2022 at 2 p.m. your local time.

 

Event Bonuses

• 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
• You’ll have an increased chance of encountering Shiny Inkay!

 

Featured Pokémon – Inkay

 

 

During the event, special Limited Research tasks will be active. These tasks can reward Trainers with an Inkay* Encounter. Plus, Niantic is debuting Shiny Inkay during this event and has increased the chance of encountering a shiny one! These Limited Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have at least one open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active. These tasks will be labeled as “Research Day” in-game.

• Task: Catch 3 Dark-type Pokémon
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.
• Task: Make 3 Nice Throws in a row
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.
• Task: Make 3 Great Throws
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.
• Task: Make 5 Curveball Throws
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.
• Task: Make 3 Nice Curveball Throws
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.
• Task: Make a Great Curveball Throw
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.
• Task: Make 3 Curveball Throws in a row
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.
• Task: Use 3 Berries to help catch Pokémon
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.
• Task: Use 3 Pinap Berries while catching Pokémon
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.
• Task: Power up 3 Dark-type Pokémon
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.
• Task: Evolve 2 Dark-type Pokémon
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.
• Task: Take a snapshot of a Dark-type Pokémon
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.
• Task: Spin 2 PokéStops and/or Gyms
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.
• Task: Battle in a Gym
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.
• Task: Use a Super Effective Charged Attack
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.
• Task: Earn a Candy exploring with your Buddy
  • Reward: Inkay* Encounter.

Wild Encounters

• The following Pokémon will be appearing in the wild: Alolan Rattata*, Murkrow*, Houndour*, Poochyena*, Nuzleaf, Sableye*, and Purrloin.
  • If you’re lucky, you might encounter the following Pokémon: Galarian Zigzagoon*.
