We’re entering the last month of Pokémon GO’s Season of Hidden Gems and it looks like this month will be packed with overlapping events. Enter the Glittering Garden event. This short four-day event is all about Grass- and Fairy-type Pokémon… and just happens to overlap with Osaka and London’s in-person GO Fest 2023 events. (Before you ask, yes, the same thing will happen to the New York City event, but with a Poison-type Pokémon focus.)

The big debut in the Glittering Garden event are Shiny Petilil and Shiny Lilligant. Other than that, Trainers can partake in a free Timed Research Story, various Field Research tasks, bonuses for walking and hanging out with their Buddy Pokémon, and more.

Pokémon GO’s Season of Hidden Gems – Glittering Garden

Begins: Saturday, August 5th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Tuesday, August 8th, 2023 at 8 p.m. your local time.

 

Pokémon debuts – Shiny Petilil and Shiny Lilligant

 

 

Shiny Petilil (and therefore Shiny Lilligant) are the two new additions in Pokémon GO thanks to this event.

  • Shiny Petilil: You have a chance of encountering a Shiny Petilil via Wild encounters, hatching from Eggs, and as a catch reward encounter from Field Research tasks.
  • Shiny Lilligant: If you’ve successfully hatched/caught a Shiny Petilil, you can evolve ’em into a Shiny Lilligant. All you need is 50 Petilil Candies and 1 Sun Stone.

 

Event Bonuses

  • 1/2 distance to earn hearts with your Buddy Pokémon
  • Increased chance of earning Candy XL when walking with your Buddy Pokémon
  • 1.5× Candy for hatching Pokémon
  • 1.5× Stardust for hatching Pokémon

 

Event Boxes

If any special event boxes or bundles are released during the event, they’ll be listed here once the event is live.

 

Wild Encounters

  • The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Bulbasaur*, Jigglypuff*, Oddish*, Hoppip*, Seedot*, Cacnea*, Petilil*, Ferroseed*, Spritzee*, Swirlix*, and Dedenne*.

Daily Wild Encounters in Parks

On each day of the event, a specific Pokémon will be appearing more frequently in park areas.

  • Saturday, August 5th, 2023: Petilil*.
  • Sunday, August 6th, 2023: Cacnea*.
  • Monday, August 7th, 2023: Oddish*.
  • Tuesday, August 8th, 2023: Seedot*.

Eggs

The following Pokémon will be hatching from Eggs that are obtained during the event:

  • 7 km Eggs
    • 1-Egg Rarity: Budew*, Cherubi*, Sewaddle, Petilil*, and Bounsweet.
    • 5-Egg Rarity: Larvesta.

Raids

Standard and Shadow Raids will be active during the event. No event-specific Raids were announced for Glittering Garden, but the following Raids below will be active for all Trainers not attending the in-person GO Fest 2023 events in Osaka and London.

 

Standard Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:

  • One-Star Raids: Galarian Slowpoke*, Solosis, Shuppet*, Abra*, and Kricketot*.
  • Three-Star Raids: Grumpig, Mightyena, Umbreon, Lmpent, and Gardevoir*.
  • Five-Star Raids: Cresselia* (See Additional Notes).
  • Mega Raids: Mega Gyarados* (See Additional Notes).

 

Shadow Raids

The following Pokémon will be appearing in Raids:

  • One-Star Shadow Raids: Growlithe*, Abra, Mareep, and Starly.
  • Three-Star Shadow Raids: Gligar*, Sneasel*, Throh (Americas and Africa), and Swak (Europe, Asia, and Australia).
  • Five-Star Shadow Raids: None (See Additional Notes).

  • Standard Raids:
    • Cresselia* will be available…
      • … prior to the event (in Five-Star Raids), on Friday, August 4th, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.

    • Mega Gyarados* will be available…

  • Shadow Raids:
    • One- and Three-Star Shadow Raids will be available daily.
    • Five-Star Shadow Raids will be available on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), unless otherwise stated by Niantic.

 

Timed Research – Glittering Garden

A free Timed Research quest will be active during the event. It’ll focus on exploration and hatching Eggs.

  • Task: Explore 5 km
    • Reward: Petilil* Encounter
  • Task: Hatch 2 Eggs
    • Reward: Galarian Weezing* Encounter
  • Task: Spin 25 PokéStops and/or Gyms
    • Reward: Aromatisse Encounter
  • Task: Catch 50 Grass-type Pokémon
    • Reward: Alolan Exeggutor* Encounter
  • Task: Earn 15 hearts with your Buddy
    • Reward: Fomantis* Encounter
  • Completion Rewards: 50 Venusaur Mega Energy, 50 Beedrill Mega Energy, and 50 Pinsir Mega Energy.

 

Field Research Tasks

There will be event-exclusive Field Research Tasks available and the rewards include the following Pokémon encounters: Tangela*, Roselia*, Petilil*, and Foongus*. These Field Research Tasks can be found when spinning PokéStops (and acquired if you have an open slot in your Field Research menu) when the event is active.

  • Task: Catch 5 Pokémon
    • Reward: 10 Poké Balls OR 5 Great Balls OR 3 Ultra Balls
  • Task: Catch 10 Grass-type Pokémon
    • Reward: Tangela* OR Roselia* OR Foongus* Encounter
  • Task: Catch 5 different species of Pokémon
    • Reward: Petilil* Encounter
  • Task: Earn 3 Candies while exploring with your Buddy
    • Reward:  25 Venusaur Mega Energy OR 25 Sceptile Mega Energy OR 25 Abomasnow Mega Energy
